What happens to Titus Lot When Brundage expands ?

When Brundage puts Sergeants chairlift in what is going to happen to the trail ? A re route or eviction ? I was looking at the trail map and Brundage expansion goes right through the trail . Does the topography allow a lower trail from the Titus lot ?

Are you talking about this map?

The lift all the way to the left. My understanding, is that's a forest service road, and they can't build the lift over it, or on it. So, it will probably come up to the road, and the road may move just a little, but that's about it.

You know Brundage traded all the land around Brundage, for some other land the forest service wanted. They own practically everything on the righthand side of the road now. All private. They where planning condos until the market crashed.

Found it, here's a map of all the private land they acquired, through the land swap with the Payette National Forest. The new land is outlined in Yellow.

Both those maps show it .(the goose creek road through Brundage property) I guess what I'm wondering will there be a ski run return to base area above the trail or will the trail be used as the ski run out of Sargeants. Like now with people skiing back to parking lot on the snowmobile trail . With snowmobile trail re routed ?

Fatrunt is the guy to ask. But, what I remember is the forest service was looking at moving the road a little. Of course, they can't go too far, or they run against the cliffs. I've never quite figured out, how you get back and forth, but my guess is, they will have to cut cat trails back and forth, and the ski lift will be above the road. They did the same thing at Bogus, the backside lift, is just right by the road.

My guess is

Wade, fatrunt is the one who will know, but I remember the FS saying that the switch back to the right on the trail out of the Titus lot will be done away with. The new route will go staight ahead thru the tree farm hitting the road further up the hill. Not sure if that point is before or after the new chair lift. Spud.

Yep, but with this economy, they probably have no incentive to push for a road move right now. It's not like building a ski village at Brundage, would get financed with Tamarack under water. But one day, a bulldozer will appear.

Right on Wade

I hear by the grape vine that Brundage is doing very, very, well this year. For several reasons, one being we have the best snow in the west right now but also, maybe, due to Tamarack shutting down. Might happen sooner than we want. Spud

good news bad news

Well, I was informed today that Brundage is responsible for relocating the road as part of the land swap agreement with the FS. Now the bad news.

The parking lots on the west side were full Saturday or very close to full. There was room for about 5 rigs at noon at West Face. Sometime that day, some rigs had unloaded at the Titus lot and then drove to Brundage and asked permission to park there. That was granted as long as they did not ride within the parking lot or Brundage property. Reportedly, others came in with machines loaded, were told to unload at Titus and come back. as the others had done. They chose to park on Brundage's lower service road, unloaded and were asked to leave again, but then rode out from that spot across the parking lot on the NW side and up the ski hill's property tearing it up. They were cited by the Adam's county Sheriff and they were from 7B and 9B counties.

They ruined what was a very very useful emergency parking area for us.

As a result NO ONE CAN PARK ON BRUNDAGE PROPERTY FROM NOW ON!!!! Even without sled on your rig. :face-icon-small-sad

Both the goose lake road and the snowmobile trail will get a reroute. The road will take off at the bottom of the switch back, if you look at that wide spot just as you enter the switch back you will see there is an old road. that will be the reroute for the road. The snowmobile trail will continue below the road reroute and reenter the goose lake road north of its current location. No the parking lot is not going away!!! unless we continue to have people destroy the years of relation building by being boneheads!!! People GET A CLUE!!!!!!

Speaking of the ski hill taking away areas. They had signs up saying no sleds on the west side of goose lake. They also ran the Cat all the way to twin lakes, they can't truly kick you off the trail can they? They don't own the land, its a National Forest right? All i know is that i was a little mad that they had those signs up. That and I compressed my back this weekend at twin coming off the hill and falling off a 4 foot drop onto the dang cat track. :face-icon-small-fro But none the least it made for some fun little road jumps. haha

They don't own the land but,

They don't own the land but they have permits with the FS that states we have to stay off their ski-cat roads. We can cross them but NOT ride on them. This is a subject in the next "winter rec. committee" meeting agenda this Tuesday. We are going to hear about it from the FS and Brundage and about the parking issue of last Saturday. If we continue to break the rules we are going to be shut out completely by the FS. They are mad and we are going to lose the arguement, they have the permits.

I will report what happens at the meeting "if they allow the use of profanity on this site"

Honestly spud, anytime they create rules like that, it's not going to work. Someone's not going to understand the politics and do what they want, and ruin it for everyone. I'm surprised we got this far. Dealing with Brundage is always going to be a looser. After reading their comments at every junction of the travel plan, and Brundage Land Swap plan EIS, it's pretty clear the owner just hates sleds.

See if you can find out when the Final Travel Plan decision is going to get started, that will make the parking lot issue seem like a spitting violation.

Surprize

The Winter Recreation meeting was a total surprize. The manager of Brundage told us that we COULD park in his lot with our rigs IF there was enough room. The condition is that you cannot bring your machines onto the property. That means unloading/loading at the switchback just below the entrance to the ski hill. DO NOT come back to the parking lot on your machines and load there, even if it is after hours.

This is a great concession on their part and we need that area of parking on busy weekends, IF, again they are not full too. Permission to park must be asked for and approved, because they fill up once in a while too.

Spud, (no profanity):face-icon-small-hap

And yes, we are working with Valley County and the FS on where to get more parking area. Will not be avalable until next year.
