What grade of octane people run in the 800R

I know a few people that run the lowest grade, cause they figure the anti nock system would take care of it.
If you run at high altitude, would lower grade octane screw up your rpm? Or am I just thinking too much?

Fuel

Your in BC don't don't don't don't use the Chevron 94 Octane it has ethonal in it and it will kill your engine killed three of mine until I found out may not kill it the first tank or second but it will 2 strokes die with ethonal! If you hear it idel funny like it is knocking thats Chevron!

Can't remember but, is 94 the highest octane you can get at Chevron and is there ethonal in all their pump?

Everything we have around here has ethanol in it. 91 oct is the highest and it has not killed my sled. I don't like running the ethanol, but don't have a choice.

They are built to need 91 at sea level. I ride at 6,000-9,000 and run 87 with no problems. If I had a head or some thing to raise the compression I would run 91 because I would need it.
Of course you have the dumbass that don't know any thing about fuel that claim you have to run 91 every where and I am sure they will say you have to buy it from chevron and have to run the oem oil specified for your sled, etc, etc...

My buddy that works at a skidoo shop told me to not ever run anything lower than 91 octane. The skidoo fuel systems and motors are prone to problems with low octane gas. Another guy I work with that is friend with Lynn Felker said if you run race fuel you have to keep running it. just my 2 cents, I wouldn't think brp would warranty a motor that was running differant fuel than what they wanted.

I use 91....it works. I'm sure 89 would be fine at altitude, but it's not worth the risk because lots of places here you unload at pretty low elev. I'm not interested in doing motor work because "it should have been fine!"

Brand doesn't bother me....I run a "discount brand" gas station here and all the fuel comes from Imperial Oil anyways, and we have 0 water in all tanks and the highest turnover rate around. More expensive doesn't always = better

Wow, I must be lucky or something.

I've run Chevron 94 octane pretty much every ride since 1998.

No problems '99 Cat PS600
No problems with '02 Doo Summitt 800
No problems (yet) with '08 Doo Summit XP

Are your sure Chevron uses ethanol? I though their claim to fame was "Techron", which is some sort of "deposit control additive"

Haven't heard of Ethanol in Chevron Pump Gas.

Anybody check Chevron website?

91 is the highest that you can get in the mountains here. You can get higher in the city but there is an additive in there that has something to do with Denver emissions. It's not good to run in a sled. My Dealer told me to run nothing but 91, you could run race fuel but at 10 bucks a gallon it just doesn't make sense.

I can tell their are alot of people that know nothing about fuel on here. My stock sled runs better on 100 octane gass. ROTFLMAO.

100 octane in a stock sled is literally lighting money on fire....you may build some extra heat and lose a few hp tho
