what dose belt angle do to the clutching

i have a 98 700 rmk motor in a 09 polaris assault body the p-85 clutch on the the 700 had a belt with a 28 angle and the secondary clutch on the assault had a 26 angle . now my problem is a friend gave me a low used 3211114 belt with the 26 angle to use before i buy a new one to see how it works and it worked great pulled hard got full rpms and hold it in the heavy deep snow but i went and got a new belt now it dosent pull as hard take a bit to get full rpms and dosent hold the rpms in the deep heavy snow and i set the clutch up for the new belt now put the used belt on and pull hard full rpms like right now and holds it can any body help me if you need more info just ask thanks
 
New belts will typically be low on rpm compared to a used belt. Put 50-100 miles on it and it will likely be closer to the used belt
 
It seems to me that if the belt angle does not match clutch sheave angle you will be getting excess slippage until the belt wears to match.
 
I tried to explain this in your original thread but here it goes.

The belt angle needs to match the sheave angle. If they don't match then the entire belt surface is not touch the clutch face. Only part of it is. If only part of the belt is touching then you don't have full force being applied and there will be slippage, heat and wear.

Both clutches NEED to have the same sheave angle. If you have a belt at a 15 degree angle and one clutch is 12 and the other is say 17 degrees they will always be fighting. If the belt angle matches both clutch angles the entire side of the belt will make FULL contact with both clutch faces.

Imagine trying to use a Square belt. The only part that would touch the clutch sheaves would be the corners. You have VERY LITTLE surface contact from the belt to the clutch, lots of slippage. Now imagine a belt that has the edges at the EXACT same angle as the clutch, you have FULL surface area contact, the most traction and the most efficient.

Over the long run your clutch will wear down your belt and make the angles match, that is why your old belt is working better than a new one.
