What do you use for a tow rope?

I use a Sno Bunjie as well. It works great. It makes it so you don't get any of the jerking accociated with regular tow ropes.

Princess Auto actually sells a "snowmobile tow strap". It has one hook on one end and splits into two on the other end with shackled hooks to hook on the the a-arms or skis. $9.99. I have one in my back pack for when my driveshaft breaks on my XP!

Mine lasted all of, oh, let's say 5 minutes. You're better off with a decent quality rope.

50' of old fashioned 1/2" nylon rope. A little bulky and a little heavy, but can be bungied up the hood easily with a little imagination on any sled. It has towed countless sled out of the mountians after all the others have broke and has been used to get many sleds out of creek beds and creaveses that would have been otherwise next to impossible. Peple stay much drier(and safer) when retrieving one out of a creek bottom as well.

I carry a small piece of climbing rope, about 10' to lash a dead sled up, but I always tow by lashing one ski loop of the dead sled as tight as possible to the back bumper of the tow machine. Works great with or without a rider on the dead sled.
Then I carry about 150ft of mule tape (electrician's pull tape) for whatever other purposes. It is high strenght and wads up into about the size of a softball.

I inch tube webbing, or flat webbing
and two carabiners..
Light strong, and can be used for lots of other purposes(including
towing a car if needed.. :)

tow

the flat webbing, 3/4 inch wide nylon strap stuff like fredly mentions, it takes up very little room in the trunk, 2500lbs test....if your near Boulder Colorado, the Boulder Army store on 16th and Pearl has rolls of about every size made

Any strap the other guy brings for himself.

Insert sled at the END:D:D:D

Just kidding!!!! goin riding tomarrow feelin a bit giddy before bed time.

Wrap A T-shirt Around The Bumper Of The Tow Rig And Through One Ski Loop Of The Toweeee. Take Up Any Slack And Ride Through Yellowstone With All The Renters Looking At You Like You Are Crazy!!! Went 20 Miles Over The Bumps To West And No Problems Unlike A Guy Who Came Into Town A Few Nights Prior Towing His Buddy With A 10' "tow Rope" And A Sled (& Buddy) That Was Covered With Snow.......

Canadian tire sells a good one here. $15. all the guys in our group carry them. used extensively, never failed yet. Nylon strap bout inch and a quarter deep. hook with a clasp on one end and a loop sewn in the other. go behind the spindles and through the ski loops and the sled can be drug riderless without fear of rolling too. Works great.

1/2 Inch Nylon.

Pack saddles needed new sling rope, so I got a roll of the stuff, which I have to hide, as everybody likes it, but works good for towing sleds out. Coiled up, it isnt to bulky or heavy.

the snowbunje setup is hard to beat. $13.95, takes up little space, and you can tow pretty much as fast as you want, even in mild pow conditions. works great when i'm testing by myself, blow something up, and need to tow the wreckage back with another sled. the hike to the tow sled is usually not much fun though.........

We had to tow out my moms sled from the middle of a meadow and over 3 small hills... Had a snobunjie (<---- POS:mad:)and the metal adjuster broke half way up the 1st hill... We also have this other strap we bought from Bucky's Outdoors in Pinedale, Wy. and that strap attaches to the ski hoops (1 single nylon strap) and another that threads through the previous one and attaches to the back bumper (sorta like a T shape) and that has toed a sled off the trails and onto our trailer with no problems... But if you cant get one of those I would suggest two tie downs to attach to the ski hoops and the corners of the rear bumper, and with tie downs you can adjust the length on each side according to whats broken or not...
