Many great suggestions already posted. One thing I do with emergency supplies and clothing is vacuum pack it all. Stays dry and takes up less room in my pack. I vacuum pack extra food, lighters, batteries, clothing, etc. These items stay in my pack sealed up, all season, unless needed for an emergency.
