What diesel do you run?

I don't know ANY hot rod guys (and I know a lot) that run 2 stroke oil in their fuel (LOL btw).

I use Stanadyne Lubricity formula in my 02 F250.

read the article, running 2 stoke oil was rated #7, its cheap, gives good lube, i notice a differance in the injector balance rates on my duramax, alot more consistant

stanadyne is right behind in #8

As a Diesel Mechanic and Owner. Id recommend running some type of additive in the winter at least. Either Howes, PowerService, Lucas are the 3 we sell and recommend. Additive is suppose to be added to the fuel before being pumped into your truck BUT were all human and mistakes happen and things get forgotten. A little extra additive isnt going to hurt anything. In the warmer months i usually run about 1/5 of a bottle of Howes per tank (35gal) in the colder months i run 1/3 of a bottle of howes.

never run straight vegie oil, it has glycerine in it and it will clog the filter and leave a gunky build up on the inside of your tank that will clog every thing else after a while.. i use about a 150 gallons worth of PowerService diesel additive per tank sure it gets expensive at 7.50 a bottle but i know my truck starts easier runs smoother and i get alot better mileage

We go through 25,000 gallons of diesel in all our farm equipment, trucks and semis. We have a wide range of engines Cummins, Mercedes, John Deere, Iveco as well as a Powerstroke. The only additives we ever run is Howes in the winter. All #2 died for the farm equipment and undied for the pickup and semies. Occasionally we'll get a tanker of 2% biodiesel. In my 5yrs of farming and dads 58yrs we haven't had a single engine problem. I think what is more important is oil and fuel filter changes. We change oil either by the hours-miles or atleast once a year in the fall before the equipment gets put away for winter and use quality oil.

05 Powerstroke 6.0 all winter I run #2 with Stanadyne performance additive, so far never had a gel 40below one time, can't say I wasn't worried though!

I tried running diesel in my hemi to get better mileage and it didn't work. guess i'll have to replace the spark plugs with glow plugs first

I didn't say there was anything wrong running 2 stroke oil in a diesel, but in a gas burner hot rod.

I've also been running walmart 2 stoke in my Cummins, 1oz of oil per gallon of fuel. For me it's cheap insurance to keep my VP lubricated, and quiets the injector noise quite a bit. I also use 10 oz of diesel kleen gray bottle in the summer, and the white anti gel forumla in the winter months.

Last week my diesel ran 12.4@112. It also runs a quart of 2stroke per 20gals of fuel.

Thats 80:1. I think 2 stroke is just in some peoples blood.
I know MadMaxPerf runs a quart per full tank so around 128:1 or so.

Most around here run Powerservice in the winter but it doesn't get too cold, maybe a few -12's or so at night but usually warms pretty nice during the day.

When i was filling up last night I was thinking if running the 15ppm like i have been running is the best for my 05 6.0l psd. its the ultra low sulfur stuff. should i find a gas station with the low sulfur stuff which is 10ppm i think or keep running the 15ppm?
Thanks

Won't happen. It's fine, run what the big stations have and don't worry about it. #2 or blended #2 which will start appearing here in less then a few weeks for the winter season.

Offroad I think may not have the ULSD rating but I wouldn't be caught running that stuff what so ever in my on highway vehicle.

Probably closer to to a quart per 15 gal since the fuel cell is never completely empty. Its blue looking diesel lol. It does quiet it down and lube up the VPX.

pretty stout numbers for a heavy truck!:beer;:beer;:beer;
not to hijack the thread, but do you guys do any work with propane boosts?
No. Mondo cyl pressure. Much better ways to make power. I do inject straight water and have a 2stage nitrous express system I'll turn on someday when I have slicks and caltracs
