What diesel do you run?

When i was filling up last night I was thinking if running the 15ppm like i have been running is the best for my 05 6.0l psd. its the ultra low sulfur stuff. should i find a gas station with the low sulfur stuff which is 10ppm i think or keep running the 15ppm?
Thanks

Good luck finding a station that has anything but ULSD. The best thing to do is buy something like Diesel Kleen that has lubricity additives in it and add it to the fuel.

diesel

we use the Lucas fuel additive in all our trucks, even the gaspots... I swear by it. They run better, the pumps and injectors last longer, and they get noticeably better mileage. Try some! You won't be disappointed!
:):)

i tried that bd 244 diesel additive since we supply it at work and it seem to work but at $40 a quart its spendy. i like the 6 dollar diesel kleen. i will look for the lucas stuff though.

No additive is the best additive. Look in your owners manual, I know Dodge voids their engine warranty if your running anything. The ONLY thing I would add to fuel is anti gel if you need it.

The OEMs only say that because they would rather you use nothing than some bad gimmick-of-the-month fuel additive that does more harm than good. And they most certainly are not all good!!! Lucas is a huge name now, but they weren't always... They have earned that reputation and grown from a small company into a huge one because their products work... An added note; why would a any manufacturer endorse a product that will increase durability of fuel systems and hurt their replacement parts sales? Our oldest truck is a Peterbilt with over a million kilometers on it and still on the original engine... Yes, we run Lucas in it, and no, Peterbilt doesn't endorse that either. They will look after their bottom line and I will look after ours.

A million kilo's does not prove the fuel additive. Most our trucks run a million miles and we use not additives. Power Service is worthless. Lucas is good stuff for lube in the fuel for older engines. Bio needs a lot of thinning in the cold.

The point I was trying to make was the quality of their products in general... It gets plenty cold, close to -50 in northern Alberta where some of our trucks are, and in that weather we use the Extreme cold additive. It has anti-gel.

Most everyone I know runs a 1/2 quart of Walmart 2 stroke oil per tank. So about 120-150:1 ratio depending on your size tank. It's good **** actually.

It's like 6 or 8 bucks for a gallon.

It can't hurt. Hell, I know old school hot rod guys that do this for their big block and blower engines. THey say the oil keeps the valve guides lubed etc and plus, alot run Klotz or Similar and it smells yummy.

In a diesel, I can't see how running a bit of some kind of lube can hurt a thing. Even catalytics, it's so little and oil today burns clean.

I run whatever is cheapest. All diesel is junk these days. Mostly Flying J and Maverick diesel for me. I run no additive in the summer and lots of Howes in the winter.

I don't know ANY hot rod guys (and I know a lot) that run 2 stroke oil in their fuel (LOL btw).

I use Stanadyne Lubricity formula in my 02 F250.

whats the best stuff to run in the winter for anti gel then??

Howes has never left me stranded. I've never pumped a drop of #1 in my tank unless it was mixed in at the station and I didn't know about it. I always ask if it's straight #2 and if the attendant can't tell me, down the road I go.
