What climbs better: 155 Boost or 165 NA?

I’m prepping for a snowcheck next season and trying to decide between the two with a 3.25 track.

For those that have ridden both, which one will take you farther at 8k plus altitude? Is the boost enough to make up for the track difference?
 
Tough to answer that because there are so many variables.

Generally speaking nothing beats track speed for climbing if you're able to maintain momentum. But if you tend to pause regularly in technical terrain I think the 165 is the call.

That said a guy like Keith Curtis can ride circles around 99% of guys on 165s on his 155. So it mostly comes down to preference and skills.

So why not get a 165 boost and accomplish both?
 
I have a 155 9R and 165 9R. I have more fun on the 155 and prefer it but I’m happy when I’m on my 165 in deep snow. Really what I’m hoping is that they’ll have the 9R Boost ready next season and I’m wondering which track length to choose. I’d rather get a 155 but wondering whether it will climb as well as my 165 9R does.
 
I can count on one hand per season how many times in the Sierras I wish I had a boost. Almost always my 9R 155 is enough. The only times you're going to want that boost is in places like Sonora Pass where you are riding in that 10k elevation and since you said climbing, that place has 50 second pulls all over. Anywhere else, I don't see a need for one as the bottomless days are very rare.

We live in South Lake and ride right from our homes, so we get a lot of riding days in each year. There’s definitely days and lines that the 155 9R doesn’t do well. If I do get a 9R Boost 155, I’d like to know it can do the same steep and technical climbs that my 165 9R can, or at least close enough lol.
 
I’d put money on a 155 boost putting a higher mark on the hill than a NA 165.

Got the first real ride on my 3.25 155” boost yesterday. I was trading high marks switching to between my buddies 165 2.75 boost.

The iqs shocks with the lockout mode closed the gap a lot.
 
New chassis for '26?
We should probably start a new post for this topic but it would be both amazing and horrible for a new chassis to be released next year.

Thousands of brand new 24s and 25s rotting on dealer lots right now.

Making the matryx chassis "obsolete" would be absolutely brutal for both the dealers and the people who are trying to sell sleds on the already decimated used market.
