What can is best

I just picked up a new xp 154x the dealer said the hps can is just loud and does not add hp, but may cause the sled to break up on hill climbs. They recemend the slp can. I have 3 freinds running the hps with no problems. what do you think?

I have rode a 08 xp with a hps ran great and not as loud as slp cans I have ran on other sleds, I have a 07 800 X which I run with a hps and it runs great and isnt loud either. My 09 xp should be here soon I have been considering a slp pipe and can, or maybe just go with a hps again.

I agree with Ridewell...

I have an HPS on my '08 XP, and have had no issues running it from sea-level to 3500'. I personally love the sound of this can, especially when you are "on the pipe". It really has a nice tone, not real loud, but aggressive enough sounding that it gets noticed. More of a "howl" than a "bra-a-p" of maybe an MBRP. At lower rpm, it is really mellow, I feel almost too quiet. And personally, I know of no-one that buys a can for power. It is for losing weight, and gaining sound. Period.

This shop wouldn't happen to be an SLP dealer now, would they??

I also agree. Have an HPS on my 08. It is not nearly as loud as the HPS that I had on my 05. Just gives it a nice tone.

I really don't think you are going to be picking up much HP on any of the cans. You really do this for the sound and to drop weight.

I would bet the tune on the sled comes into play more than the can will, HP wise.

According to BRP tests, the only can that showed any signifigant increase in hp on the XP 800R is the MBRP and no this bit of info didnt come from my dealer who primarily deals with hps.

thanks

Thank you for all your input! I think I will go hps. I weighed it at 4.5 lb I think thats a savings of 10lbs. The shop that gave me the bogus info on the hps can was the dealer that I bought the sled from MNT. Hood Polaris / Skidoo
