What boots

I have a pair of HMK pro boa boots. They were like $300 bucks and bearly made it 2 years. They are trashed, I dont think I will buy that boot again.
I did love the ankle support they provide. And the boa lace system, no more tieing boots rocks.

So I am looking for a new boot this year that has decent ankle support (bad ankles from motocross). What suggestions do you have?

On your HMK's how are they getting worn out? Is it the sole? Is it the body of the boot? I've ridden all of the models of Klim to compare to the HMK's and none including the original Radium (heaviest built and most like the HMK) held up as good as the HMK pro boa II's that I compared them against. The newer gortex model Klims while being really comfortable and agile were the worst for durability.

My soles on all of them took a horrible beating and wore out too quickly prior to riding sleds with running board inserts like our Better Boards so that I didn't have to continously kick and scrape the running boards all day long. Could that be an issue for you?

For the last EIGHT years I have worn only one boot.....Sorrel. I have never been disappointed in any way. The running boards havent even chewed the soles apart yet. I have also stepped in creeks (unsuccessful creek crossing) and never had a drop on a sock.

For that matter I have also used only one coat and pants.....Columbia.

I suspect I still have a few more years of service.

I do have boards on both of my sleds, but its not so much the sole as the rest of teh boot. They are coming apart at the seams. Getting ripped apart basically. Not just the stiching either, the boots are just ripping apart. I really should have replaced them ofter one season but could not stand paying 300 bucks for a pair of boots and using them for one year! I will go check out the klim boots i guess?

Ah that is not good. You might want to give HMK a shout and see what they say. They are really good, fair people so if you feel like it was a less then quality product I bet you they would work with you. Like I said before if you had that experience with the pro boa's I'm worried that your gonna wear out the Klim's in half the time. That was my own personal experience.

I got a chuckle on the plastic ski boot comments. I used to tele in the day and we rode our sleds in for back country access. My plastic semi hard shell tele boots were pretty cool riding boots especially the squared hard toe for cleaning your running boards. The problem was they sucked for mobility on the sled and if you had to walk or climb it was brutality!

I have a pair of burton snowboard boots. I love the support, feet never get wet or cold and the soles and out have held up really well.

the only downside is a lot of people don't like how stiff they are, but I've noticed a lot of sled boots getting pretty stiff too.

hmk are really good about helping people out with repairs or just give you a new boot
if your paying 300$ thay better last i have hmk 2's had them 2 years still look like new

Quick question. I'm thinking about buying new HMK's, but wasn't sure if the Boa's are waterproof or not. Getting back into snowmobiling after a decade away (New M8 on the way, last sled was a '98 or '99 PS 700.) Durability isn't my biggest concern. I don't need -100*F boots either. It's usually 20*F where I ride. Mostly I'm looking for a lightweight boot, that's waterproof, with good ankle support. Klim or HMK?

I realize this has been asked a million times, lame first post. But I've searched and didn't learn if they were waterproof or not. Thanks for any help.

I've ridden the same pair of Columbia Titaniums for the past three years, and could more than likely go another three years. I paid approx $170 three years ago, and priced a new pair this last year and they were the same price. However I believe they changed the model name. Just ask for their top of the line mountain boot. Nice and stiff with very comfortable arches. Only one complaint however. The top two or three eyelets are hooks and not the thread through type, sometimes can scratch the tunnel!! When I get new ones I think I'll replace those eylets. Then for sure they will be the best bang for the buck.

welcome S-3..I bought the hmk pro boa's last season..they are not water proof..but have never had a problem with my feet getting cold..I ride way back in eureka as well as all the other good spots..the boa's took getting used to but they have great support and are very comfy...took getting used to walking in them but once you do they rock..mine have held up good after 2000 miles last season....

I love my hmk's and have had them 3 years, as much riding as I do in a year they have held up pretty good, my feet have gotten wet in them, but it's not from snow, it's from sweat, they just don't breath very well, never get cold in them. Their service is great, plus until this year there was no shop in Laramie that carried Klim. I will buy another set of hmk's this year.

how many other people have had experiance with Baffin pivot? They look like good boots and I like the price $148 better than HMK $280.
