All my summer bikes are KTM, The only reason I stayed away from them was no kick starter, Hmm if that's not an issue perhaps I look at the sx 450 F, I can use the rims/chain/brakes elsewhere , The snow bike will not be used in dirt at all.Another option is the XCW 500, that does have a kick and light but not sure how it performs on the snow. Thanks for any thoughts

I my group of guys that ride, we have had Husa 570 and exc 500s and two of us has bought the Microstart xp-3 with fast connections on the bikes. We have used them only 1 time in 3 years, but I still bring mine in my pack since it is so small and carries a BIG punch. Have started my pickup in -25 degrees celcius after standing for days cold and we started my friends Chevy Chevelle big block 5 times in one charge during a cruising when the battery was almost dead. As long as you are riding with buddies (never ride alone) I would not even think twice about not having kick start.

We all ride tough single track with our big bikes during summer and just consider it an extra exercise to have the bigger bikes to struggle a bit with. I am just shy of 200 Ibs in gear so no big guy.
 
Improved

Extended the snowflap (137" challenger extreme track) to get the dust away from the seat. Works great now.
Also very happy with the Wolfman E-12 saddle bags. Only thing I would like is them to have waterproof lining.
Solved it easy by packing in plastic bags but still.

I am using a KTM Dungy Special SX 450. They are 63 horsepower. I am putting a Yeti 129 kit on it. It has a Dr. D muffler and the high end Rekluse clutch. Bigger battery going into it too. A Fisher seat for more comfort, bigger footpegs, heated grips and a few other odds and ends. It should be fun. I sure hope so because I sold my 16 Axys to do it. Snowbiker all the way now. First ride this weekend I hope.

First ride this weekend I hope.

Great! Let us know how your first impressions and if you are hooked or not. =) Personally I cannot even see myself buying a "bus/sled" again, other than a br250 to let the kids have some fun on.
 
KTM with Yeti 129 kit. I have 4 rides on the setup. Last Thursday was deep and light. I went everywhere I wanted to go pretty effortlessly. Good power, good handling. I need a little more air in the rear shocks to get it where it should be. The front fork with the Air Pro set up is at 20 lbs. It felt very good at that setting. I wish that I didn't have to change the oil as often as recommended (2 to 3 rides) but it is not a very difficult job.

I have been nerding out on snow bikes for the past couple of winters. On my way back to the parking on the sleds after a day of back country snowboarding I saw two snow bikes blasting down the ditches at the side of the trail where the sleds typically don't touch. After seeing this I had to have one. Went into the shop today and pulled the trigger on a 2017 FC450 and a Moto-Trax Mountain 129. Now I just have to wait, but at least it gives me a little time to sort out the other details so I can slap it all together and start ripping when the bike and kit show up. If anyone on here is in Central Oregon let me know as I will be looking for some riding buddies soon.
 
Last month I switched my 15 MH ST from a Beta 300rr (which I was not happy with) to a dedicated 2014 KTM 450sxf Factory Edition. Huge difference! EFI is awesome. Had a few overheating issues last weekend, but so we're the sleds. Ordered up a set of Mylers oversized radiators and a overflow bottle which should help. Also thinking of putting in a shutoff valve on the Thermobob bypass for those warm spring days. Oh, and I discovered the Agressive map switch, which rips!
