Ok, here's a field report.
I rode in very north Idaho yesterday in neck deep powder (I'm not kidding). One the way there I stopped by North Idaho RV and Motorsports just south of Sandpoint and bought a pair of Klim Gortex Powercross gloves (they even gave me 10% off retail, on Klim gear any discount is appreciated).
I wore one Ironclad Tundra and one Klim Powercross for a while. That's when I realized they each have their own niche. The Powercross are much lighter and fit so well. The Klim Powercross gloves work great for boondocking and I must have dug out five guys with them on and my hands never got wet. But.......... and there's always a but, my hands got a bit cold after shooting the sh!t for a while.
So I put on the Ironclad Tundras to ride the trail to next big bowl. My fingers warmed right up. You can hang on to your handlebars just fine and climb and boondock with the Tundras but they are bit bulky (unless it's really cold) to be considered ideal. They are now my, on the way into the riding and back to the truck gloves. That's when the Klim Powercross will come out and stay until and if my fingers get cold.
In summary, both gloves have a gortex liner and my hands never got wet all day. The Klim Powercross are very expensive ($76 - 10%) but provide a level of protection and comfort for your hands that I have never experienced before. You can tell the gloves were designed by riders for riders. Their only achiles heel is, to provide that level of feel and controlability they aren't very heavily insulated and if it's cold, your hand COULD get cold.
The Ironclad Tundras. Well, they are a work glove with a workglove design and a big gauntlet around the wrist. They were relatively thin for their size but in the end just too much glove for throwing a sled around. I never knew it but I learned that when I'm boondocking I really don't want a gauntlet on my gloves. They are very warm, they seem very durable and they would make a great trail sled glove or a cold weather to and from the good stuff glove. For the price $30 (on E bay) how can you go wrong?
What we have here are two different gloves for two different purposes in my opinion. Both exceptionally good at their particular task.
Now if I can only get a pair of the TNA Storm gloves...........................
