what are the main differences in Klim's line of bibs/coats

JUST GOT MY KLIM ORDER...Have used Klimate coat for the last couple years and has been great...i do not like to layer as i feel like i am fighting to keep it all in allign and comfortable...Anyway back to topic..I have lost 30 lbs plus and ordered the Vector parka and i think it is a better fit for me as it is a little lighter feeling. but still use the Klimate bib..

well, i want something that i dont have to wear 5 layers underneath. i know everyone says layers are good.....but i dont want to deal with more than a couple.

i was mainly looking at the Valdez Parka because i found a fat guy size left over from 2010 on a good sale. im not sure what was changed from then until now.....but it seems like a good deal.

The Valdez is not insulated. I prefer to wear layers (although it's rare for me to wear more than a long sleeved Merino 150 shirt and my Tek-Vest under my Klim Valdez coat) so I opted for a non-insulated coat. An insulated coat, to me, can get too hot and there's nothing you can do about it.

Klim tends to break their gear down by rider type. Mountain, Active, Trail etc and the insulation goes UP as the activity level goes down. But they do a pretty good job on their explanations for each piece, IMO.

I wear the Valdez jacket and Togwotee bibs and I like that they have no insulation but are extremely tough.

Bought me a pair of togowtee bibs this summer for $150 bucks brand new from a guy and i love the things. I thought i might get cold, but i wear under armour long johns and i havent gotten cold even last weekend when it was below zero all day. The knee pads to be are worth the whole bib those things are a life saver for me. I like them far better than my previous castle x set. I will most likely be getting a klim jacket when my current one needs replace.

shell

A shell with layers is the best way to go. I sweat very easily also, I wear
a light layer t-shirt(Patagonia capiline), and then a medium layer long sleeve shirt(also patagonia capiline) then the shell with the vents usually all the way open. And this is usually just right for me. If its really cold, then Ill wear the light layer t-shirt with a heavy layer long sleeve shirt
(patagonia capiline) then the shell and then just adjust the vents accordingly. The reason I went with patagonia is because when I was at
REI, I looked at the merino wool and that stuff is very expensive, but what I was told was that the capilene wicks away moisture damn near just as good, but they use synthetic materials to keep the cost down,
and they have gladiodor to keep the stink down.

A little off topic but a good story that shows the level of service that Klim offers....

had a rough weekend and managed to damage both my pairs of Klim gloves. Had a seam come apart on one (3 years old but still in real good shape) and the other pair had a blow out on the leather on one of the fingers after a small unplanned drop off a cliff lead to a rough landing... still not sure how I wrecked my glove tho! Anyways, to make a short story of it I sheepishly took both pairs into my local dealer and since they met the warranty criteria they were both replaced. I have never needed to have anything from Klim warranted before, but gotta say it's just another reason why the product is worth every cent.

Their top lines are pretty darn tough too.
I have a Valdez? I think, shell that has had more years on it than my Arctiva bibs. The bibs have cordura knees and such and they're getting alot of rips in them and the Klim coat has NO tears in it and I know I've had some dismounts where my running boards caught the coat too, evidenced by the raspberries on my arms or chest. Plus the coat is what catches all the branches while riding and it has held up well.
It is still 100% waterproof too.
When my bibs are toast they'll be replaced w/ Klim too and then I'll complete the look like every other all black Klim monkey on the hill!

Best videos I found online for getting a real in depth description of Klim gear was from RevZilla. Just google "revzilla klim youtube".
