My 3 kids started riding our old Suzuki 50 quad at 3 years and Yamaha Bravo at 5 years of age. I think keeping them on smaller lighter machines longer teaches them how to handle a sled not relying on power to get around.

My daughter is now 11 and just moved from a 340 to a 550, my 8 year old son spent the last 3 years riding a Bravo and this season is riding the 340 and
my 5 year old is getting a little meadow time on the Bravo this season.

These pics of my son where taken last Sunday 1-31-10 near Quartz Mtn, I am having a lot of fun riding with him this season... The kid rips.

Couple pics of my 8 year old son doing a little climbing on the M7 in the Crowsnest pass. He has been riding quad since he was 4 and sled since he was 5. The sled is suppose to be the wives but he is usually the one riding it. He has rode the mountains 4 or 5 times.

9 or 10 has been the norm for our family. My youngest sister has been going for rides since she was born and is 10 now. This is first year is she driving by herself most of the time. Kind of scary to watch when she hits bumps (doesn't have the leaning thing figured out) but otherwise she seems to have a good grasp of throttle control and watching for others, etc.

Think I was thirteen when I started but that is only because it was the first year we had sleds.

I have a 1978 Kitty Cat for sale if anyone is looking $500 great shape. I know it's not the swap but I thought I would throw it out there.

got my son a pol. star at 6 took him to the hill on weekdays let him play in the parks under close eye . at 7 took him on trail surrounded by fam. and good friends.controling the speed and the amount of trouble he could get in .
slowly up sized his sled as he grew makeing him learn to work the sled . buy 8 or 9 he could sidehill out of almost anything we put him into by 13 the kid was kicken my butt .
Never any regetts for time spend riding with him, no such thing time lost/or wasted spent with your kids!

my 19 mo old son already knows what the gas is for he found out the hard way my fault though.left him on my 800 so i could open gate to pasture, next thing i know he cracked the throttle and went tumblin off the back good thing he landed in soft snow.lesson learned dont leave your child on sled while running.never saw a little boy love riddin so much as him,my eleven yr old daughter loves it too.my wife also,it is great fun tme with the family.
