I bring my snow plow truck into the shop this morning for a quick repair. As I am waiting for it to thaw out I start cleaning up the shop a bit. Near the door is a package. I look at the label and it is to me. I open it up and inside sits the nicest Troy Lee helmet I have ever seen.
Now the timing of this thing couldn't have been any better. I actually took a 5 hour break from plowing yesterday to ride with my boys. On the ride I noticed that my clearance rack HJC was like wearing a 5 gallon bucket for me now (80 lbs lost after a gastric bypass in late August). My face is a lot thinner and I've lost some hair which is normal for the surgery. The boys were poking fun at me all day for how my helmet and last years 5X Klim jacket looked on me. On the trail back I lit the 'ol rocket up for a bit and WHAM my visor slams shut down over my eyes. I have plastic welded that POS 500 times and it never lasts. I did get her shut down, but it did cost me a pair of my new Superman 1x boxers that were in my stocking. We all just laughed it off, but I was pizzed. I decided then and there that I was going to treat myself to a new lid.
I can't even begin to tell you how much I felt like a 3rd grader again as I pulled this new lid from the way cool TL helmet bag. I looked her over good then pulled it on. It fit perfectly, I think it also made me look an additional 10lbs lighter. Felt that way too. This is one nice lid. I hope my punkin can do it justice.
With the helmet was a hand written note that said:
"Here is a little something from the universe that you contribute to in abundance. People like you make the world a better place. We thought the "giver" should be the "receiver" for a change.
Congratulations from the gang that is proud of you & the choices you make in life".

Even with the weight loss my ego still thinks I am a big man, wouldn't I have looked the part standing in my shop with a shiny new helmet on and fighting back a tear. Good thing that I was alone. I have not been humbled to this point in a long time. The helmet and the thought that went into it will be with me for the rest of my life.
Thank You My Friends for your friendship and an awesome helmet. Life and all that it brings has been a gift for me and as such I don't expect much beyond my daily blessings. This day and this gift though has been a great combination of kind thoughts and great gear, a win - win.
Thanks again to each of you, this is something I will remember with a smile forever. I have been plowing for a couple hours with it on, only took it off for lunch and a green tea. I will post up some pics as soon as I can get it into some snow thats not at the end of a parking lot. LOL
I hope each of you get the chance to admire it going through the pow in front of you. Until then............EW
