Went Riding with the Wolves today. Take a look at the picture

Check this out, groomed trail to our back country spot, Looked like there were at least 5-7 in this group by the amount of tracks. This was one of the bigger ones. This is literally a mile out of Clarkia Idaho! Eight inches of POWDER too....first real ride of the year!

I have had a dream before that I was boondocking and got buried by myslef away from the group. Only to have a Big Foot stomp my arse with a tree limb. I could imagine the same thing happening for real with a large wolf or pack of wolves taking you out. They could come right up your track and there would be nothing you could do. I remember watching a show on bear attacks and the guys says ok after all your attempts to ward off the bear have failed now would be the time to use your fire arm. I hope it never happens.

We have cut Several wolf tracks around Thompson Falls to Noxon, some of them as large as your tracks !!! They are out there...more and more of em. Dino

I took a pic like that last June 19th at Surveyor.

Question. Are wolves (like coytes) scared of us unless provoked or cornered? If not, time to pack some heat.

Buddy of mine had four stalking him while he was hunting this fall. They can in to about 40 yards of him. Didn't shoot had his daughter with and was hunting with a black powder I told him that was no reason. Said he was afraid they wouldn't leave after the first shot so he saved it for if he really needed it.

Wolves usually wont approach you but they dont spook like a coyote I got within 20 feet of one two years back thing just looked at me till I rode off. I had A hybrid wolf and the boy was huge and I have done my fair share of research. Any one seen the disc. special about the guy who lives in the wild with a wolf pack. crazy is all i have to say.

wolves

Last year I made the Natl news by shooting a wolf that was 30ft from my 9 year old daughter.Since then they have been back to kill 2 of my dogs and some farm animals. The pack by Lookout is around 10 to 15.My son seen 4 pups as the strolled through my property.I would never ride alone boondocking without a titanium 38 revolver, light and sure to fire. Now that they are protected, even if there attacking my dogs the feds said I cant shoot anymore of them.On the average they are back 2 to 3 nights a week in Feb through May.SSS is the saying.

Looks to me like your right has is a little bloody???? Sure you weren't dragging one off just before this? Good shot!

The Feds said you can't shoot them, I would tell the feds they can go sleep in the pasture, lets see if they wouldn't shoot them! I have only seen one up close and it left, but it wasn't scared like a coyote would be. Makes you think twice on getting stuck without a buddy next to you, both packing just in case.
