...rings should not chip/flake either. Just saying. I am starting to wonder about Polaris motors again. Is it really all caused by EPA mandates for polution? Really want a 2013 but having some careful side thoughts now.
 
I'm thinking what good does a warranty do me if they put the same crappy motor right back in? The more and more I read about this I am either installing RKT's drop-in kit or gaining 40 lbs (25 lbs with an HPS can) and buying a Cat. My dad's had ZERO issuses after he got all the recalls taken care of.

I know what you are saying, but I look at it a little differently. Not saying this would happen again, but I was able to drive my sled out of the hills when it broke a skirt. If (or when) I go through another engine it will be on warranty out of Polaris's pocket. My dealer will get paid to do it, and Polaris will see that yet another engine on my sled has failed. Everyone has a different theory, but look at Indy Dans post on the longevity issues with the Polaris powerplant. They are different than RKT's. Dan is the only aftermarket I have heard of that offers a 5 year warranty:face-icon-small-sho on his product. I would have to say he must be pretty confident in his theory. How about all the peeps who have SLP kits on their engines? As far as I know none of their kits use different pistons, rods, etc. I wonder if any of them are having any of the same issues?
