Weight Addition With Electric Start on 800 XP

How much weight does electric start add on the Summit 800 Rev XPs? What are people's thoughts on adding this? Worth it? Or not worth the weight?

Anyone with it says you cant live without it once you got it.

Thanks!

I bought an XP snowcheck that someone else ordered and bailed on and it has electric start which reminds me of my yammie, very convienant......Any how the electric starts weighs approx. 9# is what the dealership told me. (mainly battery weight).....If you add an HPS can you save 11#.

The dealer told me if i didn't want the electric start he would remove it for free. Im still undecided.

I taked with my dealer and they claimed 17 lbs extra. I can't find any info on it anywhere on their website.

Either way, I think its a good move to go with it, I'm pretty sure I will.

I posted it on the old forums. I took it off my 163x bat starter ring gear wiring harness bat box = 22.5 lbs battery alone was 13.5lbs. btw i have one for sale

Just picked up my XP and found when I snow checked it I inadvertantly checked e start and not the 2nd year warrenty. I think I am glad I did...getting older (57). Goose

Well if the recoil isnt any better on the 07 and 08 than on perv. years then I would go with E start. The wife 06 has it and its great...I dont have to start her sled LOL. Dino

are u guys sure that tin foil chassis will even handle the torque of that little starter.:beer;

Funny thing is that in the late '90's and into the 'naughts, on the "Challange Canada" race acrost most of Ontario and into Quebec - cross country team races, it was always the Kitty's that broke the frames in two...

I ride with 2 buddies who got new xp's and 1 came with e-start by accident, he loves it! When you stick it and need to roll it over sometimes they aren't always the easiest to get started, especialy down hill in deep snow and you're usually tuckered out. With e-start , hit the button and go! I have a '07' R ,will your starter fit my sled? I will buy it from you.

yes but how many jack shafts did they break and how many had warranty belts in them.

.....The XP's are not having problems with the JACKSHAFTS, but with the DRIVESHAFTS. If you are going to take the time to bash, at least do your homework.

I dont own an xp.. I'm a poo guy.. but i think its funny there are a handful of people on here that hate the xp with passion and feel its their mission to tell everyone they are garbage.. I bet none of them have even ridden one!! haha.. If you dont like a sled and think they are crap thats fine but its almost like these guys post all this stuff to convince THEMSELVES that they are junk.. haha.. ANyway my .02

My sled didn't come with E-start, it was added later, my dealer said he weighed the parts and it was around 20 lbs. I don't thing the extra weight is a big deal. The sled is pretty tough to pull over, especially after spending 20 minutes digging it out lol.

I have it on mine, love it, I put a light weight battery in, dropped 7.5#, so I have about 14 or 15 extra #'s, then I put a HPS can on dropped another 11.5#, so maybe 4 #;s over stock, ask my riding pals if it is negative. They will say if we could get up there we'd ask him.--Ken

I pulled the rope lol
no it started just fine did'nt do anthing speacial to it just removed everthing i could

Thanks for the comeback. I disconnected the battery on my 07 800R and it will not start. maybe I need to take all the wiring off. Anybody else have this problem?
