Weighed the Viper 162

Not bad. I think my 11t was 660 rtr stock. If this is 60lbs lighter and we all know that for sure 95% of that comes off the front of the sled it should be a large difference. I will have to find one to throw my leg over to compare it to a m800. I prefer the handling of the M800 but if the viper handles like the 800 and can become 240 hp they are going to sell many!!!

After converting a Viper last year to an MTX I had one small change in skid shock location and it handled just like the 2014 M8 I had last year. Side by side switching back and forth same handling. So much so I sold the M8 and bought another Viper to convert for me.

BTW, It appears the 2015 MTX already has the aforementioned skid fixed dialed in with a rail change. Ride one you won't believe this sled is a 4 stroke.

60lbs less before turbo, I would guess adding the turbo will make this 635ish, which the motor was always known to be 26-27 lbs lighter so that makes sense compared to the 1100. Not sure if the fuel capacity is the same as the tank is different....

I should be around 610 when done. Boost it kit weighs 41lbs i took off 27 lbs just with muffler and aftermarket battery. Have a few more pounds to go.. Ive never really cared about the weight on these thumpers set it up and ride the damn thing but this time around figured be good to see and keep track..

He's not showing the 3 guys popping a nut below trying to hold the sled up to achieve the 601.lol

My viper came in and taking boost it turbo out today to get install going. At the end of the day yammi will always be heavier, the cat chassis is 5 plus years old but this sled handles soooo much better then my tnytro's and tapex's. can't wait to get it done.

Hmmm, if three guys are popping a nut trying to get it down to that weight, they are not going to be at the top of my list of guys I want to ride with when the going gets tough. :face-icon-small-win

Just got turbo kit install pretty much wrapped up. After removing unneeded parts and adding a light weight battery Ive gained a total of 6-7 lbs..
Gotta hand it to the Boost It boys kit fit and finish is unreal on this kit and the instructions and install video make it a breeze for the DIYs..

Customer just picked up his 2015 Viper Mountain turbo- 180hp kit

Full tank of fuel and ready to ride
Mountain fit hood
Lightweight exhaust option
Lightweight battery

Thats really good! Hood would be my next add on stock hood is really heavy..

Now go ride it and pack it full of wet snow and weigh it, it should come in even lighter then before... At least in the videos it would:face-icon-small-hap

It will be interesting to watch the good, the bad and the ugly start showing up on these new vipers to see if the the sled is anywhere near the hype. this season will be the the first real test on this new sled package on a large scale. I just hope they are not plagued but what i would call stupid production problems like the poo with their a-arm and drive shafts because you know people will plaster the bad and the ugly all over the forums like they normally do putting a cloud over what seems to be a step in the right direction for Yamaha

I cant see too many issues with the new sleds with the chassis being 5 years old already and there were quite a few boost-it converted vipers on the snow last year..We shall see
I went for a rip around home here last night thing is unreal responsive! Night and day difference from my t-nytro and apex having no head shim helps alot and the GSX billet wheel Im sure does as well
Off to the hills thurs :becky:

Lets hope you are right and i do realize that there were a FEW converted vipers last year. Wasn't there a recall of the viper last year for possible fire danger on as you put it on a 5 year old chassis. I am sure it had an impact on the production and delivery time of the new MTX's. That is the point i was trying to make with my comment. When you mass produce anything the probability of issues arising also increases with the number of sleds being produced
