Weighed the 2013 PRO today- REAL weight 16lbs lighter

''08 and 09 xps are around 438 too.must be some reason they went heavier.''

is that true ?
not trying to start anything just didn't think they were that lite
my buddies will be stoked :face-icon-small-hap

This could be another loooong weight thread. But I like the way they weigh the sleds. Some sleds have different capacities but we all put oil, coolant, chain case (if equipped :) ), etc to capacity. I know RTR is full of gas but it would be easy for a manufacturer to get tricky by having 1.0 - 1.5 gallons less (6 - 10 lbs!).

Anyway, I'm excited to check a 2013. Anyone want a 2011 for a good deal? ;)

Couldn't have said it any better

the doo for 13 is 6 lbs lighter than last year, doing some quick emmisions and sound deregulations will remove 25lbs, doing the belt drive over chaincase removes another 6 lbs.... fairly easy 37 lb loss

last trip out with the poos we had them both run out of fuel 2/3 threw the day, so extra fuel must be added to the poos weight, or doo could maybe drop their weight another 20 lbs by making tank smaller

then look at track foot print, doo with 16 inch will have less lbs/inch, of track... extra power the etec does over the poo and its reliabilty compared to poo motor...

both are good sleds, but..... is my choice

We had a 2013 PRO 155" in the store this week and put it on the scales. It came in 16lbs lighter than the 2012. This sled is a demo and has 700 miles in it.

We weigh sleds "wet" which means full of antifreeze, oil reservoir topped off and chaincase fluid(which there is non on the 2013 PRO). The gas tank is completely drained.

The weights below were all measured on our scales(Longacre Racing Products computer scales) and these are "wet" weights. All sleds were new and assembled out of the crate, except for the 2013 PRO which has 700 miles on it.

2013 PRO 155" 438 lbs
2012 PRO 155" 454 lbs
2012 M8 153" 496 lbs
2012 ETEC 800 154" 501 lbs

Hey Fred, just so you know the cat guys have been saying the same thing since fall..they still havent lost any real weight compared to the pro...and by the time you spend that grand, 2 or 3 grand to drop 30 pds..well the poo guy could take the same money and build 10 hp and be right back up there..as for the 13 doo's what I read on the doo site was they gained 8 pds for 13(beefeir rear skid, unported track, and some other things...)..ride what you want, all the brands are excellent sleds..but pull your head out and face reality...........here the skidoo spec page for the 2013 summit xm 800 etec..
http://www.ski-doo.com/showroom/compare-models.aspx

and this is what it says..for a 154 track official dry weight is
Official dry weight 206 kg / 454 lb (146 in)
211 kg / 464 lb (154 in)
215 kg / 472 lb (163 in)
464 pds..vrs what 456 pds dry for a 12 summit x etec in a 154?

Think of me as your bull$hit detector fred;

Just vspent 2 full days with 3 pro's 2 - 10 Doo's , 1 -11 Doo and 2 12 etecs, plus a few M Cats in 2 to 3 ft of fresh both days. The 10 and 11 Doo's and the Pro's used really close to the same amount of fuel, same type of riders, the 12's did use a bit less , but marginally at best, far from a deal breaker or maker either way. And your reliability issue seems only to be an really big issue on your keyboard, they have all performed well all year. Everybody had fun, ALL said the easiest by far to get unstauck was the Pro, ALL compared the amount of snow carried in the tunnel and chassis and agreed no tangible difference, ALL really liked the etec motor, the Pro'd used a bit more oil than the etec, but not enough to care about. All in all, they were all a hoot, either of them would be great choice. Pick your poison, but stop witht he so much better crap, its bull$hit and anyone who's not totally insecure about there choice will admit it.

both good sleds but ....... is my choice also.

With a Diamond S hood, and an HPS can (so roughly $800 later) a 13 Pro will be sub 400 completely dry. :face-icon-small-sho

HaHa Fred W, I guess its back to the drawing board for you to come up with more bullsh*t you can post up here to amuse yourself, atleast we all know your very interested in the REAL mountain sleds since we see you in this forum so often!

Gas savings on the ETEC is significant. The 2012 ETECs do use quite a bit more oil though. I am really shocked at how little oil my Pro uses, but it still smokes like crazy on startup. When my ETEC burns 5 gal gas the Pro burns almost 7. I fill from an electric pump with inline measuring device so my numbers are very accurate. Sleds run nearly the exact same miles off the odometers.
