Wedge w/ newer style hood

Ok its been awhile since ive been around here and i know ive seen these things, but where can i find a polaris nosecone for a wedge that will fit the newer style hoods?

Thanks guys/gals!

RYan

also just noticed i posted it in kind of the wrong area.. sorry :(

This reminds me of some old goodies. SHMO had a really cool hood on the old site, was a old ZR 580 style hood with wedge bottom (custom).

I'll buy one if I can find it...

I bought a lightweight black Gen 2 hood kit for my 93 son's Indy. It was easy to make it fit by using a kit that replaces the old nose cone. You remove the bumper and nose cone and rivet on a new bottom piece. You have a choice of the Gen 2 or a modified Edge look. Was very happy with the finished product - sure spruced up the old beast! I purchased it from Menztoys who is here on Snowest. I will take a pic and try post later! (Newbie!)

Yeah if you could post a picture of that it would be much appreciated, ill go that route unless i can find the whole belly pan/ hood deal for a decent price.

thanks guys!

anyone have any pics of this thing? (nosecone/hood)

thanks!

Hey Norway,

I'm surprised anyone remembered those hoods I built. They were part Arctic cat and part polaris. I don't build them anymore for obvious reasons. There is not a lot of desire for old wedgie hoods these days. However, I still have the molds.

Here is what they looked like.

Remember? You kiddin me?? Those hoods are the coolest mod for a wedge I have EVER seen. I still own a Wedge, just a stock -96 Ultra to house the PRICE til the mod got built, and I'm positive I'll have another Wedge to mod in the near future.

Really thinking about how to get one of those hoods...

Well,

the mold is still sitting in the rafters. Price would be dependant on how far finished you would want one. They are hand laid fiberglass with no gelcoat finish, so they do require some bodywork prior to paint. However, done this way they turn out absolutely gorgous as far as being smooth and perfect once completed.

I can supply them in four different stages

1) Raw glass popped from the mold (only compotent bodymen need apply)
2) trimmed, prepped and primed. (louvers cut, but no headlight provisions)
3) trimmed, prepped, primed and completed. (essentially ready for paint)
4) completely finished with different degrees of paint (skys the limit here)

For anyone that is serious about wanting one, PM me for pricing and details. I am not sure about the rules on Snowest regarding posting that kind of thing, but to give you an idea they are more expensive than Lexan.

I'll help ya lay one up SHMO! Been there, done that!:D I thought for sure, when we laid the first one up and the mold got ruined, this style/hood project was done. But, you fixed it up (20sum hrs later) and we were back in business. That was a long time ago. Good times.:beer;

PS. I need a new hood:rolleyes:

Thanks Menztoys! Thats sweet! Kinda like that look, you think anyone makes a bumper that rounds more to the shape of the hood? If not i suppose I could always fab one up..

Thanks for the pics!

Custom bumper

Here's one that I built last year. If you do the conversion nosecone, get a hold of a Gen II skid plate and bolt on over it. It really cleans it up and protects that thin thing well. When it's all done you can hardly tell it's not a Gen II belly pan.

Retro fit nose cone

Mountain Fit Hoods has a retro fit nose cone that makes it so you can run a gen 2 hood, of if you get one of there hoods you can get a gen/edge hood that looks like an edge, but has the bottom shape of a gen 2. There phone # is 509-218-1397. If you cant get ahold of them, pm me and i live about 5 minutes from there shop and might be able to help.
