BS, this is an excuse/copout. Kids need leadership for what you state above not parents that are throwing in the towel.
I dare say that a lack of CONSERVATIVE VALUES is the problem! I grew up knowing the limits and rules my parents set for me or by God there would be hell to pay. Kids these days don't care about anything and think that having a child is not a big deal, to them its unfortunate they are going to have to pay child support, but shoot they are in college so whenever it starts they will just add it to the loans.
After witnessing the massive amount of loans people are taking out to simply obtain a teaching degree(taking 6 years to do it in a STATE school), I am scared for the future of the country because half the freakin population wont be able to pay off their loans. I can't even begin to imagine how bad it is at the private/more expensive schools.
You speak with two heads, Grasshopper! You complain about kids these days financing their education and lives with loans and being in impossible debt before they ever get a job. Yet the current president, who you chose to elect both times is running our entire country on the exact same premise.
We will pay later, does not work out well in any scenario.

@newmy it goes with the conservative values that people used to have. People in the good ol' days worked their asses off during school and there was never the rampant spending that occurs with my generation(taking out school loans for a 2-3k spring break vacation). Also, there was never a problem with people paying back their loans. Do you think that the next generation will pay their debts because they know its the right thing to do? I am unsure.
You reinforced my point. Values come from parenting youngblood. Spending and loans don't make kids kill people. Spoons don't make people fat.
I'm not throwing in the towle on mine. But have you seen what these kids write and post on Facebook? I have enough problems raising my own kids and trying to teach them values, only to have Liberal teachers erase what I teach.
Most everyone seem to have thoughtful answers and yes returning to conservative and Christian principles would certainly help the problem. However I do not see how we can save this country and my grandkids without completely returning to the principles of our founding fathers. How can the citizens raise proper kids when they have no clue what is right and wrong and feel they need the government to survive. When I was young most mothers stayed in the home and raised the kids, most of my teachers were committed to teaching and helping the kids learn and the government did not take over 50% of your income every year forcing you to have more than one job or send the wife to work, which was pushed hard by the feminists trying to destroy the traditional family, something they have succeeded in quite well. Unfortunately the Marxists who gained control of the universities began putting out good little Marxist teachers who than began destroying the educational structure of the country. Although I have fought long and hard against it have to admit it was my generation that brought this situation to fruition. I have known many who have raised their children well only to send them to public education and have them turned to liberals.
The only answer in my opinion is to remove the kids from the public education system which is designed to turn them into good little socialist democrats and republicans! With the country in the condition it is in today I honestly feel it may be to late for the country but at least save the kids. Swampy
