Washington fuel prices, how much can you take

Thread Rating

Yeah, just wait until china starts consuming more oil, then were screwed.

Well, if you mean it might increase the price further, you're correct. Let us pose this question? Obviously you are pointing out that supply and demand is at work, internationally in fact; so do you agree that the price we are paying is the result of more than just corporate greed from the institutional bad guys? What say you, with the fact that the US still pays the least per gallon compared to the rest of the world? Shouldn't they be charging even more??? Just food for thought.

At least your willing to admit your mistake. The scary part is the amount of support he still has. Thats a good percentage of the population that are a bunch of morons.

If I'm a moron because I still believe Bush is a whole lot better than the last two choices, so be it.

Sucks to be you then, 'cause it's a whole lot worse than "moron"....

Now, that we're over that. I in no way like everything he's done, but the alternative that didn't happen should scare any reasonably sane person involved in rational thought. You wouldn't be scared? Case in point then.:p

And the best quote of the day...:face-icon-small-hap

Here is a thought...That oil is a self renewing resource..

In many places they are going back to wells that were dry in the 40's and 50's and now have oil again.

Anybody who still thinks oil is from dead dinosaurs is NUTS!! Do the math...There would of had to be TRILLIONS of them on the earth to make the amount of oil the world has consumed over the years.

I read a very interesting paper on where oil comes from.It stated that it is a byproduct of the earths core burning and thats why it is self renewing. If this could be proven to be fact the price of oil would drop like a rock...Hmmm....

Now I don't know if this is true, but it sure sounds more likely then oil comeing from dino's..

All this said,we still have it so much better then most..My friend called the other day from germany and paid allmost $10.00 a gallon for very poor quality gas...

Like modsledr said..It's a free market, gas companys can charge whatever they want..

Your president was asked today what he thought about fuel approaching $4.00 a gallon and I sh!t you not his answer was " where is that, I didn't know that" Is this guy for real? CNN

I feel very STUPID for voting for this guy

Corn based ethanol takes more energy to make than the oil it saves. Only sugar based ethanol is more efficent not to mention that the explosion in corn prices for it and oil prices have caused commodities to go up 100-1000% in the last 5 years.

Untap ANWR NOW! Having untapped oil in the ground when your economy has gone in the tank is real smart. Raise your CAFE to 35 and force the big three to make $5.00 a gallon easier to swallow.

I was a diehard republican all my life but this guy embarrass' me. And I used to think Clinton was the worst prez we ever had!

Good post Dave, ditto!!

Oh and minimal effect? Valdez cough cough. Yah it is not in the bay, but it is a result of getting the oil out of the bay.

Are you talking about the refinery or the oil spill? I'll assume the spill...that would've happened whether the oil came from ANWR or any where else. That could also happen anywhere in the world, not just AK. Some people even think it was intentional to raise oil prices...and Exxon still hasn't repaid the state or fishermen.

$3.89 tonight and it was 70 bucks for just a few gallons!!!! owner of the station said now that oil hit $102.59 today it should be over 4 bucks in less then a week!!!!!

Can someone please tell me which bill Bush vetoed that led to the increase in fuel prices? I don't have the time to follow politics daily like some folks, but I sure don't recall hearing about one.

I am with Good to Go here. Bush is not the best President we have ever had, but my God, some of you would have preferred John Kerry? Yikes!:face-icon-small-con

mtbarr64, you and me must be 180 degree opposites. Every single post I have ever read of yours on many threads, I almost always have the exact opposite opinion. But hey, it is a free country to speak our minds. My opinion is no better than yours, and that goes for reverse order too. :D I bet that drive from Sammamish to Cle Elum is "carbon neutral" too. No wasted energy there.

Now that I got that out of the way, time to get some sleep and get some riding in tomorrow. :p

Continue with your thread. But I thought this was about fuel prices.

I wonder if those Cement trucks have locking gas caps ???? Hummmm ? :D:D:D

that kind of talk is quite common these days at work,,, it goes like this, " Hey B!tch, how many 2.5 gal fuel cans does it take to fill up that pig Rv sitting at home" or is that a gas can or a lunch box, I cant tell its so big!!!

Do you follow/watch politics my god. Just go back and watch bush's speeches.

"I hadnt heard that about the fuel prices reaching $4 a gallon "

4 minutes later in the same speech

"we've been focusing on the high cost of fuel"

Focusing on the fuel prices, he must be doing a good job.

You must be talking about Gore and Kerry which cant even be compared to Bush. My god look at thier conversation, bush cant even speak intelectually. "Uh duh Uh what was I talking/lieing about again oh yeah"

Its pretty funny to that over 65% of the population thinks he's a fuggin moron. Its ok man, I know its hard to swallow your pride and admit your mistakes. Your not alone look at Hillary it took her months of being ask about her vote on Iraq to finally admit she fugged up. So your not alone.

I complained that a vote for Bush in 04 was a vote for Hillary in 08! I just couldn't gather myself to vote for Kerry. I don't see how he could've done any worse. It's not hard for me to admit "I was wrong to vote for an idiot"

I HATE the Clintons but and I can't even believe I'm saying this but I bet she know's as every American knows that gas is approaching $4.00 a gallon. I just can't believe this guy. Oh, I forgot, he doesn't read the newspaper.

Maybe Bush hasn't "veto'd a bill" but I wouldn't sit back and let this happen on my watch. But I guess I'm not buddy buddy with the Saudi's and didn't come from the oil industry (wink, wink) No, he doesn't work for the people

The only thing good that Bush has done imo, is extend daylight savings time. That is the only thing you can do to save energy? Boy, I bet he had to think hard about that decision. When people ask me if you were better off during the 90's I've run out of arguments and the stomach to defend this idiot.

Clintons big deal "Don't ask don't tell"
Bush' big deal "Extend daylight savings time"

The two worst presidents we've ever had!!!!!!!

I could buy this argument if we lived in a dictatorship, but we don't. Yah bush sounds dumb sometimes, but I have to believe that really he is not. I am not that smart and nobody is calling me up to become president. There are what, a couple of thousand people that report or deal with Bush on a regular basis... This blame the president for everything gets old... seems to me it is just a distraction from the house and senate whose inaction or inability to get important things to pass is the real problem.

I think Bush is a pretty strong president, but it is the screwy people he deals with that are causing most of the problems.

It amuses me that everyone wants to blame the president (any of them...not just Bush) for their lot in life.

Is it the presidents fault that we, as Americans, are driving our vehicles in record amounts (by mileage) every year? Is it the presidents fault that oil companies are not government entities...they are FOR PROFIT publicly held corporations? Is it the presidents fault that America does not have enough oil reserves to be self sufficient? Ever heard of supply and demand?

Just like you cant give Bush credit for the phenominal economy over the last few years, you also cant blame him if we go into recession...it's just natural economic cycles.

Same thing with oil prices. Who cares if he doesn't know what the average price of oil is...if you didn't have to drive for 8 years are you telling me you would know?

I know this sounds like I'm defending Bush, but I'm not...I'm just saying that the president...ANY PRESIDENT...isn't always in touch with the common man, and isn't to blame for the economy, gas prices, food prices, inflation, recession, etc...and shouldn't get credit for economic prosperity.

The only thing I blame Bush for is not having an exit strategy for Iraq, not having more UN support for Iraq, and believing faulty intelligence reports (which, by the way, so did Congress when voting to go to war in the first place).

I got cut off filling my truck at the Safeway the other day. At $75 and the pump just stopped. First time that ever happened. Felt like I got kicked out of the bar for pissing on the pool table or something.

The local Fred Meyers raised their cut-off from $75 to $100. We still automatically shut off when fueling our truck though! OUCH!! If it goes to $4 a gallon, we probably won't be hauling the toyhauler anywhere this summer. It'll be cheaper to drive to our destination (in our v6 escape) and get a hotel room. :(

Jeez, I guess he never veto'd anything. Take a look at his record. Usually when I deal with somebody and I say to myself "that guy sounds dumb sometimes" It's because they ARE! Smart people don't sound dumb. I'm sorry, but if you don't know what the price of gas is, then you shouldn't be the president no matter how long it's been since you've been driving.
