Was I in the wrong? Yelling at hockey ref.

fan stands for fanatic....parents are fans, they can' look at a game the same way that a non fan/parent looks at a game...your too one sided...and all the kids on your son's team were saints during the game as well i'm sure

yep your that parent...have a good season!

you need to take a step back and actually look at in a non partisan view.

lets see it was hockey correct...there is contact with hockey correct. kids use sticks in hockey correct...stuff happens, but you shouldn't be the off ice police...eveyone hates a back seat driver....

there will always be a kid bigger than your kid...that' life, deal with it.

I have been reading mps post and they are all constanlty negative and always attatcking some one. I probably should have just ignored it, but I didn't. And it looks like i got his dander up pretty good. opps i mean anger. lol

Tell me how you got my dander up? I didn't cuss at you..put you down...you brought up incorrect facts or should I say you like to push rumors around.

Are you a ranger? My comment was a joke...but if you want to take it serious thats ok. Yes, I suppose it was an inappropriate joke. I have a ranger friend that is on this forum and it was directed toward him. I really don't care if you have judged me....if you want to have a productive opinion on this thread...go ahead.

I can admit I can step over the edge with people on here from time to time....however, you don't know what goes on behind the scenes.

Are you digging up all my archived posts? WOW....how long ago was that post?

Have I put anyone down on here for telling me I was wrong for yelling? I appreciate those comments....I came here to ask people's opinion because I know people on here have the same interests and passions I do.

Are you happy with your digs now? No, don't flatter yourself...you didn't get my dander up. It takes much more than that friend....no if you were a meth head harming children, ya we would have issues. If you were a sex offender harming children, we would have issues. However, I don't think you are those things. You are probably a decent guy that thinks I am a d*ck....it isn't the first time someone has thought that of me and it definitely won't be the last. Water off my back my friend. If you see me on here engaging in some argument about politics or whatever...ya I am blunt and I may say someone is a brainiac, idiot, or whatever. Are you that sensitive? No I shouldn't name call....and I have apologized to people when I cross the line.

Cheers! I am ready to have a beer! It's Friday and we got pounded with snow last night! YA baby! :beer;:beer;

I don't have a problem with you telling me not to yell, but like I said this kid was BLATANTLY swinging his stick at other kids. Yes our kids did not play cheap. I have seen a couple trips by our kids....they are good kids and fair respectful play is instilled in them. How much do you know about USA Hockey? Squirts cannot check yet. Yes there is incidental body contact. This kid was blatantly and intentionally trying to hurt our kids and no our kids played completely fair! So are you one of Tim's friends? I see you are from the same area.

I've coached youth hockey for years. The biggest challenge facing youth hockey is parents. You set a terrible example for other parents and other kids but most importantly for your own kid. Maybe someday when your kid is grown up and his supervisor treats him unfairly you can go rip his supervisor a new one and make the case that he now treats son fairly because your chewed him out.

Kid emulate thier parents both in behavior and attitude. Sometimes you can use a "screwin'" as a great example for a kid especially if he's your son.

Yes I agree with you that is why I started this thread...I have been very cognizant of my behavior for this reason. Yes I lost my patience when a kid was seriously hurt....but now I have received good feedback from a lot of you on how to go about it differently. I appreciate that from all of you.

MPS...you should have asked yourself...What would OBAMA do in this situation ;)

OVER!!!

ps...nothing wrong with yelling at the ref's for not doing there job properly...just so long as you don't PHYSICALLY assault them you are GOOD 4 GO.

pss...FLYERS SUCK

LMFAO! Nice...I am still gonna kick you square in the nuts like I promised! Maybe twice for that comment! Then I will buy the beer! :beer;:beer; ;)

I don't mind your opinion and I didn't have a problem with you chiming in....but I didn't like your excessive sarcasm. You were just way off on your assessment of the situation. You weren't there. How is that I am too one sided? I have never seen our kids be blatantly cheap like that...if I do I will also have serious issue! Seeing blatant high sticking is too one-sided? Every parent on our team was very upset. I did vocalize it...and I came into this with an open mind to listen to opinions....your sarcasm was not much of one. Tim's "opinion" definitely wasn't a constructive one either. ...and ya I don't think I am going to tell my kids to duck....thanks for that advice though.

If you want to give me a good opinion like everyone else on here has...great, go for it. Didn't I just state I now have great ideas from people on here for what I can do better next time.

...and Tim the incident you speak of happened almost 5 years ago!? Wow! You remember that!? Wow...that makes me really wonder....who are you? Are you the one that called into Boise? That is completely insane you bring up something that happened almost 5 years ago...a little obsessed?

Parents need to be quiet like most said. When I was playing, around 12 yrs old or so, I actually had a parent threaten me from the stands because I hit their kid and hurt them, but it wasn't dirty. You have to look at it from the kids point of view, I was pretty freaked. Also don't look at the kids different because they are bigger, I was always bigger then most and it was rough for sure, you do something to someone smaller always called, they do something and get away with it. I can't even count how many games I got kicked out and suspended for hitting kids and they were clean and parents went crazy over it because they got hurt, just because someone is bigger, doesn't mean they should play any different. Sorry for small kids but a bigger one shouldn't have to go easy on someone small, just the way it is.

You need to let the coaches handle it for sure, a lot of refs really try their best and call it as they see it. It is really rare for kids to get hurt badly, I played for around 8 years and never missed a game because of a injury from one.

The one time my dad got up and yelled from the stands was when my brother was hit from behind really bad and broke his hand, I would say something like that would be justified, because it was a pretty extreme case, not because the ref didn't call it, but because it was really dirty.

Just rememeber it's a game for fun :)

Agreed and that is pretty messed up for some d*ck threatening you! I think I would have lost it if some guy threatened my kid. I understand incidental bumps and clean hits...I totally understand that. It happens all the time. However you know when a player is intentionally being dirty. This kid had done it 6-7 times before our kid got slashed in the throat....and like I said our kid dropped straight down like he had passed out. Our kid was on laying the ice for a good 5 minutes This slashing kid was picking his stick up and hitting....it wasn't innocent slaps at the puck or tying another kid's stick up...it was intentionally meant to harm. Anyone could see and understand that. I only mentioned that the kid was big because he was doing that much more damage. One of the kids hit by him before the big incident was limping.

Anyway...if something like that happens again...I will go to the coaches....then if it keeps happening I will pull my kid. It didn't cross my mind about pulling my kid....it will now. ...and the video camera is definitely a great idea!
