I haven't been to the mountains in several yrs and last yr I didn't need to leave KS we had plenty of snow (1500 miles). But so far this yr we aren't getting much snow. I have been out of the loop for a while and was looking for riding suggestions for the last week in Dec or the first week in Jan. In the past we have been to Grandlake and Rabbit ears several times. What is the snow conditions and the possiblities of finding lodging in such a short order? Would it warrant the long drive? Any suggestions for other riding areas with both trail and open riding areas?? Thanks for any info.

The most snow is down south around Chama, Pagosa, Wolf Creek, then around Grand Mesa and Crested Butte.
Yes, it would be worth the trip!
Just got lodging in Grand Mesa a few days ago, last cabin at the Spruce Lodge (at the time). I'm suer you can find lodging around no problem, especially if you trailer up to the hill from town.
