Want to make it run 1 week a year. lol

Had my 06 900 159 to Wyoming for my one west trip of the year.

Day 1-2
Snowing, temps in the 20's. Ran ok, had a little flat spot @ 5000-6000 rpm.

Day 3
Sunny, temps in 30-40's. Ran <ok, Occational Flashing engine light, dead spot 4500-6000rpm.

Day 4
Sunny, temps high 40's. Started out same as day 3 then as day went on it would only idle, creep along at 1/4 trottle, 4000ish rpms and run great WOT pull 7600 rpms almost instantly.
So it would idle and move at 1/4 throttle 4000 rpm. 1/3 to 3/4 throttle it would not even move, full trottle it would scream.

So I Brought it down the mountain, full trottle-coast-full trottle-coast, etc.

Any ideas? bad TPS?

Thanks.

I'd be leaning towards TPS and/or TPS pigtail...but it could be other things too...

I had a similar 3/4 bog that was intermittent and it turned out to be the TPS.

I've had a similar stumble/go like hell wot that was the inner flywheel ring coming out and cutting into the stator wires. I also had a similar stumbling instance but no wot due to TPS pigtail...I once had a stumble due to one of the coil contacts coming out at the coil plug (not the spark plug but where the coil plugs in).

In my case the pigtail was easy to diagnose as I moved the wires around and one came out in my hand.

This is another thing I would check since it sounds almost like the same symptoms I had. Check your stator. I was having a bog on mine around 4500-5000 rpm. I was able to get my hands on a digital wrench and I had low voltage on everything. I know the stators are a common thing on the 9's. Just something else you might want to check because if your stator isn't throwing out the correct voltage it could throw your TPS off. When it's running how many bars are lit up on your charge gauge on the display?

Thanks for the input. I haven't changed the fuel filter since I've owned, assume its original, 2400 miles. I'll change it, its probably due.

Going to start the process of checking wire, probably pull the motor so I can get a good look at everything.

So I did have an engine light blink a few times, is it worth the money to take it to the deal and have it hooked to the Digital Wrench?

I would tend to agree with it being the TPS sensor, or possible short in the harness. My brother has been rideing two 2005 models for the last three seasons and both sleds lost top ends at around 2500 to 3000 miles. He is not much for preventitive maintenance and I dont want to add another problem to tour list, but no better time than summer to put a new top end in!

Of course do all the simple tests first. Then dig deeper. Make sure all your ground wires are In tact and connected good. Clean and grease all electrical connection plugs. Check all your voltages while you have those appart. The service manual should have the voltage or ohms parrameters for the TPS so you can check that with a a multi meter.
