VW getting pummeled over their lies to the EPA

Don't get me wrong I agree but just saying that the bashing will now begin by the people who are going to try to justify their shortcomings

I swear in Alaska it's 90% dodge guys. I will never own a Cummins just so I'm not associated with them. Everyone has a rediculous stack, races light to light, leaves the donkey mirrors out. So friggin stupid. I don't know what it is with Dodge, but it takes a "special" individual to drive one.

Its exactly the same here, sure there's a couple douchebag ford and gm drivers, but seems like its mandatory if you own a Cummins. Like they have some sort of test to find the most douchebagy fella with a flatbrim and white oakleys to drive there trucks. On a side note everybody knows the more smoke you blow the more power you make, duh, fax is fax and you can't change them.

Same in Alberta, most dodge diesels are loud and blow black smoke. Stupid.
I owned a jetta TDI, it was impressive but at the end of the day was a POS.
Friends dont let friends drive vw's. I should have listened to that advice.

Thank god at least for a little while there will be less noisy, stinky, black smoke blowing pos diesels out there!!! Too bad VW didn't make full size trucks so there would also be less idiots flooring their 4 inch exhausted pos's hoping the noise would drown out their thoughts about their sexual inadequacies;)

See, the thing here is, you are in the same boat as the people you are complaining about. The people who cant get away from the mindset that diesel is dirty, stinky and bad are stuck in the past just like the guys that think if it dont smoke it aint runnin right.

Truth is, the vast majority of us work very very hard to keep our stuff smoke free. Its killing our sport, the jerkoffs that have to cloud out intersections. But they are really a small percentage of the total. Truth is you wont notice most of us, because we're clean runners, and understand that any joe blow off the street can make a diesel "roll coal", but it takes REAL skill to make 800+ without being conspicuous.

Dam polluting, air wrecking vw's.
What should be done about the 29 million 18 wheelers that get 5 mpg everyday all across the country? Tell me that ain't pollution. How bout airliners that burn 25,000 lbs of fuel in 3 hrs? Last time I saw an emission control catalytic converter on a 747 it looked really funny.
A few million 4 banger 100hp Diesel engines ain't gonna pollute squat compared to commercial trucks and 2-4 engine airliners.
Not saying what vw did is right, it's a crime to mistepresnt and should be punished big time but the pollution is a drop in the bucket compared to what's out there.

Have a good hard look at the NOX and hydrocarbon emissions on a current model commercial truck; despite the downside of their complexity and expense they are incredibly clean. It's pretty bad when a 4 cylinder VW is polluting FAR MORE than a 60,000+ pound truck hauling freight.

Yup, big rigs have been running dpfs and def at least as long as light duty pickup trucks if not longer.

Circumventing DEF injection was the whole motivation for VW to take the (unethical) route which they chose.

What I heard on NPR and NBC the other day. In the US, 8 to 13 billion dollars in fines. Europe 30+ billion in fines. 500,000 vehicles in the US and 11 million world wide. They can correct the emissions problems, but the vehicle will have poor MPG and negative performance. It's not what those owners paid for and they won't be able to sell their vehicles. Not one company on this planet can survive the fines that will be imposed and all the class action law suits that will come about. The lawyers are lining up like cord wood. VW will have go to the German Government for a bailout. And they will get it. It's going to effect their economy and the regions economy in a very negative way.
All because they cheated and millions of people are going to have their asss handed to them. Maybe some of you VW cheerleaders should take that into consideration. And now Germany is going to take in 800,000 refugees and migrants? I wish them well!

Sound like another Deepwater horizon/BP case I am sure glad we don't have to worry about that company after all those fines were levied oh wait!!!!

So what is negative performance anyway? as apposed to less performance oh yea its sounds a whole lot worse. Yea VW cheated Name one corporation that doesn't cheat in this world to raise their profits for the share holders. And who is always left paying for it? we all DO. everyone is making this out as something new. So too will this past once the media has something worse to report. Back to gun control I say!!!! now that there has been another campus shooting in Oregon

almost zero~~~~~"On November 18, 2010, Ford reduced its stake further to 3%."

From 1979 to 2010, Mazda had a partnership with the Ford Motor Company, who acquired a 7% stake in 1979 and by 1996, owned 33.3% of Mazda. Under the administration of Alan Mulally, Ford gradually divested its stake in Mazda from 2008 to 2010, with Ford currently holding 0% of Mazda stock and severing production as well

Zero currently owned

Can't wait till these tdi vw cars are cheap. I will buy two or three and get them chipped and laugh at the stupid EPA while I get 60mpg.

I have one of these installed on each of my diesel Jeeps (Grand Cherokee and Jeep LIberty) http://www.autocyb.com/

I think all vehicle owners should have one on their vehicles. It'll prevent unwanted ECU scans/upgrades and access to your recent driving data history incase of an accident.

This VW emissions "scandal" wants me to go out and get a lightly used TDI. 5 of the last 6 diesels I owned were incorrectly titled as gas vehicles by the morons in the DMV so I wouldn't worry about not being able to get a vehicle tags renewed each year.

Speaking of pollution, my F150 ecoboob engine's exhaust tip has more carbon on it than my DPF equipped diesel. I can actually see soot spewing out of my F150 when I step on it and see none on my DPF diesels. How did the F150 pass emissions with a design that runs very rich under heavy loads so that the pistons don't melt? Did Ford cheat too or did they payoff the right politicians?
