VP race fuel?

Looking to try something a little better than 91 pump gas in my 15' summit x. Stock engine. Just wondering what you guys recommend as there are a lot of choices. AV gas would be tougher for me to get. Thanks.

If its stock u are just throwing money a way. If u don't have access to 91 that is a different story. U could put a 1 gallon of vp 110 if u are worried about gas quality.

What was said.
Waste of money if 91 is available.
Lower octane makes more power unless you have the compression to go along with higher octane fuels.

save your money

If the motor is designed to run on 91/92 octane then run 91/92 octane. Higher octane, when NOT required, makes less HP. So spend your money elsewhere. But, when ever possible, run ethanol free fuel.

Like ph had said, on a stock compression motor 91octane will give you better power than vp race fuel..

Brother actually runs 87 farm fuel in his and last we talked he was over 2000 km trouble free with no knock sensor codes

Race fuel is only needed if compression ratio is changed, as a different squish on head, turboed, supercharged.. Waste otherwise

What was said above.

Often, "premium grade" fuel is a confusing name... Premium relates to octane ... not quality of the fuel.

Race gas will not give any more performance (for the most part) and often will lower power output. An exception to this would be some of the high dollar, high tech mid-90-octane race fuels that have the shelf life of a fruit fly.

All the above comments are not 100% true when it comes to race gas anymore. I have a couple hundred hours on a chassis dyno and that includes trying several different fuels on a 9.5:1 compression ratio motor that really only "needs" about 89-90 octane. There are some new oxygenated fuels that make some big gains, but cost in the 20-25.00 pr/gal range. We compromised "dollars for power" and ran a blended fuel that was 105 octane and it made 5% more HP then the pump gas 91 octane. Just throwing it out there. Eric

So five percent more hp with oxygenated fuel?? That seams like a fish story.. Please fill us in how and it's principal to have the stock motor produce more hp over a lower octane fuel

I had always been told the lower the octane the more uncontrolled and violent flame front inside cylinder..

Like I said, A LOT has changed in fuels in the last few years. There is another new fuel out now gaining 7% over pump gas in a stock motor.

From VP's website:

NEW! MRX02™
Arguably, the best performing fuel for stock and modified two-stroke engines, period! Surpassing MRX01, MRX02 is effective in delivering up to 7% more power than pump gas and any basic non-oxygenated race fuel. This high end fuel blend passes rules for AMA Pro/Am.
