voltage regulator and ecu failures

I looking to get a list in one place on all the symptoms seen with a voltage regulator or ecu failure. It seems that there are several different things to watch for.

Mine started with not idling very good after it was warm they adjusted the TPS at the shop it idled fine but once up to temp it would idle bad! Then the dash lights went out at low idle but ran fine at upper throttle positions and lights came back on. Rode about 30 miles climbing and normal thru the tree's stuff then hit the trail cruzin down the trail not real on the throttle not real off it started missing then would only idle for a few seconds then it quit and would not start! I thought I had a lean burn down cause it pulled over hard even with the plugs out. Pulled it back off the mountain and took to dealer they pulled off head no damage put it back together and checked ECU it smelled bad burnt so theres my story anyway. Great dealer is all that keeps me riding Polaris I love the sled but we'll see if this is it! Good Luck to all!! Jim

My ECU failure showed NO symptoms, it just leaned out the motor and seized it hard. Got one season out of the 2nd one and it is now waiting for it's 3rd ECU.

got home from mountains today, sled would idle fine at staging area and as you climb in elevation it would loss rpm idling.. at 6500ft would idle around 1000... checked tps today and there putting a new one in. so thats my story, running a power commander 5

I believe I have a voltage regulator problem. Here are my symptoms. Rode for about 1 hour and then low idle 1000-1300rpm. I then noticed the dash display was out. I checked to make sure all the wiring was still plugged in and no wires broke. Started it again and rode for about 5 min and display out again and then machine sputtered and died. Let it cool down from (120deg). Started again and did the same thing after about 1-3 minutes. Kept doing this until I got back to the snow park. That was on a 09 dragon 800. Next day pulled out my wifes brand new assault (1st ride on it) and did the exact same thing after about 2 1/2 hrs. All dealers were closed Sun and Mon around me, but slp and Justin from code red performance seem to think voltage regulator.Anyone else have the same problems?
