Vista or XP

Vista is so screwed up that if you call Microsoft to complain, they will give you a free "upgrade key" for XP. My boss got a new puter with Vista and he can't hook to "many" of our office devices, the printer being one of them.

I have two laptops at my desk here at work. One is XP PRO and the other is Vista. I honestly haven't had a problem with Vista and believe me I put this thing through ALOT of testing for new software and so far so good.

Although XP is still nice but think about it, one day your are going to have to go to Vista as XP will be obsolete from Microsoft sooner or later.

Word is though there is supposedly a Service Pack or patch coming out for XP that is supposed to make it 10x faster then any OS out there.

Now if they could get the bugs they say they have (which I haven't seen yet) fixed in Vista and could get Vista 10x faster I think it would be a solid OS.

If it were me I would go to Vista.

Stick with XP! I have XPpro and 3/4 of the programs that I use won't operate correctly with Vista!

Vista is crap!

Vista is nothing but trouble from what I have heard, stick with XP or even better yet Buy a MAC and Never worry about that crap again!!!

We have 2 machines that came with Vista. Neither one would work with Office XP, specifically Outlook XP... that sounds like crappy product testing when their own OS doesnt work with their applications.

They are both on XP now...

read articals from testers who do this stuff for a living and a quote that sticks out is one said that he UPGRADED to from vista to xp. should tell you something.

As you can guess from my username this is kinda my area of smarts. Stick with XP unless you like a slower running system that isn't compliant with many older devices. If you are buying a system and want XP either go with a smaller company that builds systems individually (like me) or order over the phone from Dell, HP......and tell them you want XP. You can still get it on big name pc's.

XP Pro is the still the best out right now.

for the most part.... XP is better, HOWEVER, Vista does have some really cool features, unfortunately it seems like the only way it works well is if it is an OEM install and you're not trying to upgrade stuff...

personally I'd stick with XP, it is stable and fairly bug free if you are building a PC yourself... but if you're getting a new OEM like Dell or HP or somethin and are not planning on upgrading much in the near future, vista should be OK... and I'm sure they will get the bugs worked out by the time SP2 is out...

i have used Vista at home since it was out on Beta.. I haven't had any major problems.. but I would still go with XP Pro or better yet buy a MAC.. They are growing on me the more i play with them..

mac's are no longer mac's in the traditional sense... they are intel with unix based OS, just has an apple front end on it, kinda like gnome or x-windows, nothing more than a layover for the OS... a smart move for them imho cuz mac os had run its course LONG AGO...

thanks for the reply's!! seems like most peeps rather have the XP pro! i'm game! i could always upgrade to Vista in the future once the bugs are really fixed! i also heard from a tech that vista still short on a lot of drivers! nice to hear the XP's are trouble free...unlike the XP Summits..lol!

thanx again!!

vista is good any and every program i have works perfectly, faster than xp, and way more user friendly!

For the people bragging up Vista, let me ask you this.

Did you load the operating system on a PC you had, or was it a new PC with it already loaded? The reason I ask this is there's a multitude of things that can slow down any PC and a fresh system will almost always seem faster.
