VES Jugs on a 1997 700 motor

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum...so here's my story, I bought a 2003 SKS 700 with a ''bad piston'' so i tore it apart and sent the crank in to get looked at being it was already tore down, the crank ended up being bad and the rod was bent.

So back to my question, I bought a 1997 rmk 700 motor for cheap at Hay Days and want to rebuild it before i stick it into my sks chassis, BUT I have two brand new cylinders and pistons for my VES 700 and someone had told me that I could run this top end on the old 700 motor, Does anyone know if this is true or should I just buck up and order a set of pistons for the 97 700? Also, Is there a way I can still utilize my PERCs reverse on the old motor?

The '03 700 ves cylinders will bolt right onto the '97 bottom end. If you use the ves cylinders then the perc will work fine. You will probably have to use the stator housing from the '03 due to coolant hose location. The '03 didn't have perc so if you have perc on this engine someone retrofitted it and I would use all the ignition parts from the '03, the stator, flywheel and cdi. Probably wouldn't hurt to use the oil pump from the '03 as well in case they actually swapped out oil pumps also. Bottom line bolt all the stuff from the '03 onto the '97 bottom end and your good to go.

They are the same pistons from '97 thru '05

alright, thanks a million sir, I'm gonna go ahead and guess that the base gaskets are the same as well...that saves me alot of guesswork as far as what pipe to run too being that I was running SLP's on the 03

I think the clutch bolt will need to be from a 97, 98 or 99. I believe it is smaller diameter at the threads on the end of the crank.
