Utah State Parks trail check point for Dl. Lic and paper reg., stupid!!!

I think most everyone in UT can provide at least one story about a DNR Cop that has an attitude. I dont envy their jobs as they have to deal with all types of personalities. However most that I have come across seem to have an attitude as well. Maybe their are frustrated with their jobs, maybe they do not like the weather, the cold, or the outdoors. It would seem to me that being in the outdoors and getting paid to ride sleds, & atv's your disposition would be more positive.

If they spent more time ticketing the cross country skiers that park in such away as to try to block access to the parking lots. Or, watching the parking lots for those that might sabotage your rigs while out riding. Or, tracking down the cross country skiers that stick out their poles and try to hit you. My attitude might be a bit different. I am sure many of the No UT guys will remember a few years ago there was a surge of destruction & sabotage to trucks and trailers at the Beaver Mtn parking lots. Did anyone recall seeing extra patrols in the parking lot? Or any one of the DNR guys setting and watching for the perps? I never did, and I was up there every weekend and sometimes during the middle of the week. We wound up taking turns, having one in our group stay at the truck for part of the day to watch over our rigs.

i can vouch for sdsnocop. He may not remember me but I have run into him on a couple occasions and asked for directions or opinions on how long it takes to get somewhere. always just seems like a regular guy to me. i think all of the riders in the blackhills owe a gratitude of thanks to one of the truely good ones out there.

I have found that if you follow the rules you don't have to look over your shoulder. If you get to know the PEOPLE doing their job things go faster and friendlier.
I praise them each and every time. There are countless sleds in Montana with permanent stickers. Most get sold and other people run on the old sticker. I bought mine and you should also.
If your trails are not groomed then join the club grooming them. Put your name on the line and see who complains about your decisions.
If you want respect give some and see what comes back. Don't get upset because there is always one or two jerks out there, on both sides. They are just doing their job.
Look at all the stuff you carry. I'd bet you could figure out how to carry a piece of paper. JMO

That all sounds good about joining clubs etc., and obviously you dont live in Utah. Parks and Rec. started out years ago grooming a trail in our valley but chose to stop grooming it and blamed it on the city for not clearing the snow in the parking lot. Wait a minute why is it the cities responsibility to clear the parking lot for Parks and Rec.! And yes the city has always cleared the snow in this parking lot and received no financial compensation for it. The city receives no tax revenue from it as well we just do it as a service. And by the way this lot is not used by our residents we all ride from our homes. Parks and Rec receive revenue from thousands of sleds and we see very little in return. I have always been taught to man up to your responsibilities and take credit and blame when it is due, and dont blame anybody else for your faliures.
