huh?

The nytro market sucks too! I have had my 2008 nytro on there for almost 2 months.I have had some guys try to get it for nothing. It is almost insulting. You can't buy a holdover 09 and build one for the price.I want $12,000 or I will just keep it.Build your own and see how fast the parts add up. You can throw $10,000 at a stock Nytro pretty quick and still have a fairly basic sled. I figured mine wasn't selling because I didn't have enough bling so I even offered a brand new, black mountain tamer rear suspension for a $ 1000 more and it still isn't selling. Maybe it is because it has a 153 powder claw. Most people are putting 162's on them. I'm not sold on long tracks. There is always going to be someone that really needs to get rid of theirs and will give it away, but I will keep mine. It can sit in the garage and I will have it for a spare. I guess it is just a matter of how bad you need to sell it.

Don't even think about trading it in...

There was a used 2009 turbo nytro for sale at a dealer locally.
300 kms. Guy traded it in on an atv.
Nicely set up sled. Anniversary edition. It sold for about $12k, and that was in March of this year. Can you imagine what they would have given him for trade in?

Unfortunatley most guys cant keep a 12G spare sitting in the garage as a spare which is why there are so many deals out there and they are going to better once Dec hits. The only problem is that next year it will be worth even less. Realistically you will probably get 10 or even 11 Grand this year. If you dont need to buy another sled put that in some investments and next year you will have 11 or 12 G cash. Your sled will however only be worth 8 or 9 G next year and you will have lost another 3 G plus whatever it costs you to plate it, insure it etc. If you can keep it adn ride it and enjoy it thats great but to keep it just to stare at it in the garage doesnt make a lot of sense financially.

It sucks I understand but every year it sits in your garage its going to be worth less and when some 1200's come on the used market or some z1 turbo mountains then even less people will wants your old yammies.

A shop around here has a apex with bolt ons there asking 32 900 I think there in for a surprise

That is what is crazy. I don't know how people can ask some of the prices they are. I seen an arctic cat turbo the people were asking $21000. You could build one for $15000. Some people hijacked his thread and said he was crazy. The guy was mad about it. I guess it won't sell if it is over priced. It was hard not to say anything. That is why I put $12,000 on my nytro. I have never seen one advertised lower than mine. They might be taking less but mine is way cheaper than everyone elses. Instead of playing the big car salesman game, I put what I would take. Maybe it makes people mad that I won't come down. If you drop the price a little, people feel like they made a deal.
You guys are right. It will just keep going down in value. I'm not against having a spare sled around. I would rather just sell it. I don't think I would ever build a 4 stroke again. I would buy a used one and add to it.

Sled prices

We are all in the same boat. I have lots invested into my snowmobile and from what I see on here I'm not the only one. However many years ago I realized that when purchasing a sled and adding parts will never fetch any return,it could be a 1000 with a pipe or a nitro with a turbo when buying the aftermarket parts it's money down the drain. Our sleds are worth only what someone is willing to pay and right now thats 10G.

There is one other option. Part it out. If you have the time just rip the thing apart and sell each piece separately. Its probably worth double if you sell it in pieces. Pain in the as $ but worth way more that way. Someone with a Nytro already would buy the turbo, motor to a guy who blew his up, suspension to someone that wrecked theirs, track to someone who tore theirs up, chain case that wrecked etc. And we all know what body parts are worth new at the dealer.

Good point Rizzo...it would be interesting to see how much a guy could get for a parted out turbo Apex or Nytro that you just can't seem to give away whole.

I think your price is pretty fair for what you've got on it cause I've built a few and I know what it costs but IMO whats holding your sled back is the track the tunnel and the skid cause the guys who are willing to pay top dollar either don't know how or are unwilling to mod a sled. JMO

I agree 100%. I wanted to do those things the other year but I decided to wait. You can throw another $5,000, or even more, doing those 3 things. As far as the track goes I'm not sold on the long ones but I know most people want a 162. Only one time I couldn't go where I wanted with the 153 powder claw. It was a really knarly chute. I paid for that one. I was stuck for an hour and a half, and nobody could help me. Actually I think i still had the maverick track on it then.

I am in the same boat just doing up a Apex I got cheap last season.

My RX1 turbo is worth less than a stock one so I keep it for a spar and run the Apex with stock power for now.

153 is all around the best and most fun track. Once turboed track size does not matter much ( if you have a good and well set up skid )
Stock power is a bit different.
