used yamaha market wtf

What is up with the used Yamaha market? I've had my 2007 turbo Apex ($11,000) and my 2006 stock Apex ($4,500)on Craigslist for a week and I've got like 3 calls. I thought my asking prices were pretty fair. Do I have to give them away or what?

turbokeith, it's a sad fact that when the nytro hit the market the apex's value shot down through the floor. I had to at the time give my 07 apex away for 17000 canadian and take a couple lower dollar sleds on trade to boot to get the deal done. If and when I get back into sledding, it'll be a turbo'd apex for sure. I didnt' have enough seat time on my turbo'd nytro, but prefer the apex. Possibly push in your ad that you'll take a lower dollar sled and cash on trade and hope to he!! you get the money out of the sled you take on trade. that always worked for me.

I have had decent luck lately on EBay. A little bit wider audience than Craigslist. Also, you can ship a sled about anywhere for $500-700.00 in the lower 48.

Are you advertising it nation wide? Reason I ask is because there is a stronger demand in the mid-west, even for moutain sleds.
Couple years ago I sold my Viper on Totallyamaha.com. I listed it as in Wa state, almost all of my responses were from the mid-west.
A guy in Mn bought it, and gave me my asking price. Evidentlly sleds in good shape with low miles are harder to find back here, the guy was tickled pink when he saw how good of shape it was in. I would of had to give the damn thing away at the snow show.
The trick of course, is getting it there, I was lucky and have a buddy that could haul it for me.
Even if you have to pay a few hundred bucks to ship it. You may still come out ahead!
Good Luck, I hope you are able to sell them!

I personally know a guy who sold his MCX apex with the 310 kit for 9k. He spent more on the turbo and install than he ended up getting for it.

Times are tough if you are a seller, but if you are in the market its a good time to be looking.

Help me think out of the box a bit.... What's a good price to move the sleds?

As sad is it may be. I think you may be stuck for a bit.

Two friends had their sled at the show, both for $8500.00. One was a fully built motor with 250 miles on it, a fabcraft rear skid, boss seat and a light weight frontend. Hardly any takers at all. One may have sold, thats MAY have.

I feel your pain. Good Luck

Not sure why they won't sell, but I think it's a very clever post to advertise your sleds for sale in the Yamaha forum vs being booted to the Classifieds. Good on ya.;)

Ha... now that you mention it, it does seem kinda clever. I wish I could say it was intentional. The down side is that I really don't want to sell the sleds, I just need the cash for a great "buyers market" deal.

Even with the market being crap, I sold my 98 Vette and my enclosed car trailer in the last couple of weeks. The one item that has surprised me is the Kubota tractor I have for sale. Same kinda deal, it's a real fair price and I haven't had one bite.

People need to see what a good buy used turbod yammies are many people have 35 grand or more into a sled and are willing to dump for 15000 or less.I wont buy new again thats for sure.

I seriously considered selling my sled this year and just keeping my Nytro but the conclusion I came to was I'd get next to nothing for it so I might just as well ride it. The true payoff in a 4 stroke is in keeping it for a long period of time anyways. Most of my riding buddies have been through three 2 stokes in the time I've had my Rx.

personally! i'd part it out before i let my 30g turbo sell for under 10g. a good used turbo kit in canada gets between 4 and 5 g. the motors an other 3-4g. i did well parting out my last turbo yammie.
