Used Turbo vs Non Turbo Prices

I am looking for a back up sled for my family and friends to ride. It may even be for me and I would use my stock sled for the back up. I have noticed several turbo sleds for around 8,000.00. I know a good turbo set up is 7,000.00 in parts alone. Then there is stock sleds with low miles for that price. Can a used turbo with 2-3000 miles be trusted? Some say new top end and some have recent video's that the sled runs great. Why do these devalue so much? I know aftermarket stuff can devalue a sled, been sledding for years, but why take such a hit? Why not return it to stock and get money for the turbo kit? If I bought a used turbo sled for around 8,000.00 and it has good compression, what are the most expensive issue's I could have if the sled decide's to start breaking down. On pump gas turbo's, how much messing around do you do on each ride with the boondockers fuel controller if any is there?

You can spend 20k plus and only sell it for 8 like you say If it was a good set and miles are within reason its a buyers market Do your research. It baffles me why people spend so much on them. But most think and in some case think newr is better .Oh and by the way alot of these 8,000 or so sleds are not selling and people will take less than you think

Depends what turbo and sled. 2 stroke and 4. 2 strokes are easier to work on and fix. If it's a backup sled I'd stick to a stock sled. You don't want your family and friends passing you on your back up ride.

If you like working on and are handy enough to fix your own sled issues right now I say go for it. If you have to take your current sled to the dealer for the small stuff you will not like a turbo. Be prepaired for some of the best days on the snow with insane power and some of the worst when the gremmlins decide to come out. Some are lemmons and some are more reliable then stock try to find out the history of it. Bad installs on the turbo are going to be a headache till it ends up going over a rock cliff (riderless...) good installs are usually good to go.

Great Info, I buy from Vohk and have seen some of his set up's for sale with the pump gas BD turbo set up for 8000.00 on a cat m8. Totally considering it.

Have him look it over and "bless" it. Should be a screaming deal. I bought mine used and it has been pretty hassle free. I am honestly pretty blown away with how helpfull the Turbo world guys are too. I can call guys like OVS, Racinstation, and Doebeck and they are always willing to try and help me solve issues over the phone. Most of the time they have heard my issue a 100 times and can fix it for me in the first 3 minutes of conversation too.

First off buying a T sled for a back up is not the way to go. Buy a T sled for you and a back up for when its in the shop. Second just a observation your currently says looking for a job. Buy a T sled and your job will be working on that. Also if you have to ask how the maintenence is you very well may not be the guy to own one. Just trying to point you in the right direction.

As for why guys dont seperate the turbo to sell the sled I can only speculate they are not wanting to patch a hole in the tunnel and look for an exhaust, or dont have the skills to even go back to stock. It doesnt hurt my feelings there are some GREAT deals out there. I have seen nice T sleds for 6500 bux with fresh top ends.

Id be much more willing to buy a sled with the turbo installed than get a cheap take off kit thats probably missing lots of fasteners and may or may not work right with no way to test...
