Wow, scary.

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.'

'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.'

'From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'

'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years'

'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:

1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
3. from courage to liberty;
4. from liberty to abundance;
5. from abundance to complacency
6. from complacency to apathy;
7. from apathy to dependence;
8. from dependence back into bondage'

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29

Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: 'In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare...' Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the 'complacency and apathy' phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already ;having reached the 'governmental dependency' phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

Some state that every Democracy eventually turns into 1 of 2 types of governments. Socialism or Communism. Hmm

After our latest election it appears we're well on way. I've been watching this progress for a long time now. Part of the progression is a civil disobedience phase, I've already fell into that part of it. The old saying,"You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead hands" is looking like it may be reality soon for millions of fed up folks.

lets see i live in a log joint in the mountains with fresh water running right by the back step, can call moose right into the yard........wood stoves and kerosene lamps if needed, 100 lbs of rice,200 lbs of flour bags of salt,baking powder and a few flats of beer ....whose gonna be first ??... lots of ammo fer the ole 303 brit any questions ???

Everyone needs to to remember that as one we will not be heard, but in a group we will. If you own a gun make sure you pay your NRA dues, same for the Blue Ribbon Collition, or any group that will stand for your rights. Let's hope Americans will wake up once the massiah takes office, and the change is for the worse.

Tog,

You're right and half right. Yes support the organizations that you believe support you, monetarily (sp?). However, time is a more precious commodity to offer. The Office of the President Elect, had thousands upon thousands of people talking up the campaign. Money is half the equation, bodies are the other half. IMO

I think thats where those that are right of the isle screw the pooch. "The Left" want to talk and rally and ...etc. The "Right" wants to write a check and be done with it.

To be accurate, Tyler did not pen the above quoted passage.

"And that is where the vice of misattribution lies. Perhaps the words speak the truth of democratic governments; or perhaps they do not. But either way, attributing the words to a scholar who never spoke them is to lend to them an authority and reliability that they do not deserve. Anonymous quotes, which these almost certainly are, should not be given fictitious attributions merely to lend credence to the messages they impart. To do so is to favor persuasiveness over accuracy, and to sacrifice truth for the sake of image."

Be wary of our current state of affairs, but avoid being alarmist. That will only make matters worse. Question everything, don't believe all that you read.

If arrogance and ignorance were currency, you'd have the key to the treasury.

How long do you think a single person with shoulder mount guns held up in an isolated location would actually last against an organized military and there resources?

if you are referring to the assumption that our military would ever in a million years fight in our america you are sadly mistaken....no soldier that i have ever seved with would ever turn their back on america and take down its own countrymen in the form of war....many people i know are getting out due to the fact that obama is taking office....im one of them. I serve for capitalism and freedom, not socialism/communism. there are many well trained individuals such as myself that will only be pushed so far

with that being said obama will still be the commander in chief and I will not turn my back on him. He has a great oppurtunity to make right...however, if he draws first blood, ITS ON

You are right. No soldier today would turn on the American people. But who is going to take your place when you leave? Will it still be a great US Citizen or will it be one of these illegals that gets citizenship? If you and a lot of guys you know are getting out, then who is that going to leave us in our military? I think that is just the first part of it. By you leaving it opens the doors for people that aren't really there to protect us.

BTW thanks for all that you do.

It is guys like you that we need in the military to keep our government in check. If they tell you to do something against the American people you are not going to take it. But what about the new guys that take your place? That actually scars me more to hear that many of the soldiers are getting out. We need people like you to stand up to who ever it is that is making the wrong decisions. I guess this is just convincing me that I do need to go get a gun really soon. Never been a gun owner but I think that is going to change.
