US of A Founded by Christians for Christians.

I am surprised (and saddened) at how out of touch my beliefs have become?
I just assumed that most of us were lucky enough to have been brought up being taught at least basic Christian principles.
Putting the Lord before everything else will never mean that you are neglecting any of the other important people/things in your life, it will only enhance everything good!

I don't talk much about religion or how much was crammed down my throat as a kid. But I will never agree with that last comment. My mother died from breast cancer because of her religious beliefs. She believed god would cure her and never got medical help. Now she is not here to meet her grandchildren.

If christians acted this way I might be able to get on board with it.

I have watched familys and lives wrecked because of refusal to accept people who chose different paths cast out and alienated in families and communites. Watched people take their own lives they felt so isolated because the so called "christians" did not want anything to do with them and would rather watch peoples lives fall apart over differences in faith.

Be good to people because they are human and their lives have value, regardless of race, regligion, gender, whatever.

I like your attitude, you "get it".

Why do people feel the need to unquestioningly believe in a mythical being just to make everything "good". Close minded blind following of anything doesn't enhance everything good. Open your mind, see the whole picture and stop leaning on such a massive crutch. Life is really good, it shouldn't take the threat of eternal damnation to be a very good person, be good to others and live a good life. Unless of course you are running the church and want to control the masses...

in my experience religion sure doesn't enhance the good parts, especially when people continue to persecute and kill each other over it. And don't try to say no one is persecuted in the USA in this day and age over religion. The world will never know peace until this fantasy is behind us.

The challenge is how to reply in a way that draws you in, not push you further away. Your halfway there. You understand how important it is to simply treat others the way you would like to be treated.
I was raised Christian, and have always held Christian beliefs.
However, the older I get the more precious these beliefs are to me. I would imagine this is due to maturity & the inevitable earthly exit drawing closer.

I realize arguing with non-believers will not win them over and quite frankly portrays self righteousness.(not a good way to convert anyone)
Rest assured, I firmly believe everything I am saying, yet fail miserably every day in living a life that would suggest that.

Have you ever thought to question the belief system? There is a reason they ram it down kids throats from a very young age... Think about the perversion of the original teachings in the last 2000 years, the way it has been constantly twisted to benefit certain individuals needs. Think about how it was created as a way to explain the unexplainable to what were essentially STONE AGE individuals. At that time can you imagine the terror a thunderstorm would invoke simply because you lack the knowledge to understand its cause? Of course early civilizations are going to come up with an answer...

If Jesus lived today and saw the way you people had distorted his teachings and the suffering Christianity had caused to millions over the last 2000+ years he would wish he had never spoken a word.

It's called faith, because we believe without seeing.

I won't argue that much evil has been done with the guise of Christianity.
But that does not stir my faith in the least.

Blind faith as the result of brainwashing... This is an insane world we live in.

Come on, I'm sure he researched religions of the worlds and found the one that best fit his values/beliefs/views/etc. I mean, no one would base their whole belief system on blindly following what their parents/friends/community thought, right?

This country was founded on Christianity. The four fathers believed in a god. We have been a very generous country but it is nearing its end. If people want to come to America the greatest country in the world they need to understand a few things. Learn to speak English and if your religion beliefs threaten our way of liberty and life you need to go. Don't come here and try to change our ways of life learn to live as we do if you wish to live as in your homeland stay there. We are a lot closer to a world war than many people think. We trained many Iraqis in there army but yet they failed to stay and fight Isis on there homeland. Will we being the USA be able to unite against these forces at work or will we continue to look the other way as we have for the last 7 years. We have seen violence increase in communities around me from refugees being brought in.

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison and Patric Henry were slave owners. Doesn't seem very Christian like to me.
Yet another awesome example of how religion is contorted to the current societal norms. If this simple example doesn't make it obvious that it is just another way people manipulate and control one another and nothing more, I don't know what could.

Founding fathers eh? Don't I recall something about "give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses"? Yea, sure they believed in a god, but they also understood the importance of keeping their beliefs to themselves, hence the first amendment...

Read your so called important Christian teachings and then read your post above, I hope you notice the massive amount of hipocracy in what you are saying.

Also, I think there were more than "four" of em...
