Upgrade recoil for 01 800 summit

When the recoil failed on my 02 I bought the "updated" recoil from doo. It lasted two seasons with out fail...sold the sled...the original recoil failed the second ride into my second year with the sled. The recoil from a 670 I believe is steel and prone to rust. I went thru a couple of those also on my 670. Biggest thing is to make sure the recoil is engaged fully before you pull your guts out. Dino
X2...replaced my '01 recoil with the updated one in '03. lasted another 4 yrs without fail until I sold it.

I have been using the original recoil since new which is on a 2001 summit 800x now with 2800 miles ,recently bought a rebuild kit from WPS was only $6.95 and an hour work.also put new rope since it was apart .no oil used on parts , brake and belt dust build up will cause friction .also look over routeing of pull rope for wearing points .
