Unpopular opinion time: Having finally ridden my '21 850 factory turbo, it seems that aftermarket turbo mfgs/shops have no clue what they're doing

So a good friend of mine picked up two Turbo Experts a few weeks ago and I have had about 100 miles of riding time on one of his now.
I am totally sold.
Absolutely LOVE this new machine.
I WILL be Snowchecking a 2022 for myself this spring.

Compared to the 2 turbos and 1 supercharged sled I have own so far, this "FEELS" by far the most friendly and rideable.
its hard to quantify what "Pleasent" means. but I found the sled just plain Pleasent to be on all day long.
On Trail, Off Trail, In the meadows, in the mountains.
The damn thing was just FUN in all different environments.

No, its not nearly as powerful as my 275hp turbo viper was, nor do my shoulders ACHE at the end of a day of riding from being RIPPED out of their sockets.

I think Ski-Doo seriously hit a home run with this OEM Turbo.

I’d venture to say that’s exactly the riding experience they were shooting for ?

I admit it, I am just not as thrilled with a full mod sled and all the "tweaks" that have to go into it as I was 10 years ago.
At this point, I just LOVE knowing that the damn thing will WORK SMOOTHLY all day long.

I will give up some boost in exchange for HIGH RELIABILITY and LOW MAINTENANCE.
I just want to go RIDE all day long and not worry about my machine of getting 105 octane gas.

Our group runs several new sleds and the T850's are nice but so is the 850 Polaris. The new sleds are dialed on mapping so they run so nice, Most have better shocks too than just 2 years ago so the ride is better too. I dare to say you might be surprised being on a new sled of another brand also. And in the trees it is tough to say which one out-performs the other.

Jay Mentaberry posted a video a few weeks ago, 54mph track speed on a climb. Pretty impressive. Seems like my 850 Poo typically runs 40 give or take.

I wish I had ordered one.

I ride with 2 factory 850t all the time, and ride them a far bit. Coming off polaris the last 7 years im liking the expert doo. At 2000-4000' l would like 10-15hp more, as it will just out climb a n/a expert 850, 2 sled lengths. But the turbo does have and can feel the lower torque. So smooth and quiet.

He is running 154 2.5 with factory race tune and factory race exhaust. That thing is ripping.

The one I’m talking about is definitely the consumer sled.

Nice. Think that one is also 154 2.5 which seem to be working amazing. On my 165 3” 850T I have been having so much fun, I haven’t paid attention to track speed lol. I’m running Ibackshift clutching and it is by far the most fun sled I’ve ever experienced. The turbo is a get of jail free card. Even when I thought I have been stuck, if you just help it find a little traction, it’s walking out of what ever situation your in. I’ve only got two rides in because snow is thin here in SW Montana and I don’t like wrecking stuff, but so excited now for the rest of winter! As Norona would say TURBOOOO!! Hahaha.

I TOTALLY AGREE
The world of sledding has changed SO MUCH in the last several years.
Is anyone actually making a BAD MOUNTAIN SLED at all anymore?

I am pretty sure I could find room in my trailer for ANY NEW MOUNTAIN SLED..

And getting those few extra HP out of the 850T is as easy as a ECU REFLASH.
There is plenty more power to be had if you really want it.

Oh I know that, thats the good thing about the second year sleds, usually a few small tweaks from the manufacturer. And the aftermarket has the mods out and there tweaks done. One thing I dont like is that the snow coming over the hood, hits you right in the face. Might need a small window or bag or something to stop that.

You are 100% correct
I remember commenting on that very thing the first time I rode the 850T
It felt like the nose of the sled was acting like a snow plow and funneling the snow UP and OVER the hood right into my face.
I don't think I want a windshield, as I have BUSTED every one I ever owned.

The sleds that mentaberry ride are race dept sleds, way more HP than consumer sleds.

Nevermind, I seen your next post skiis are in the air. Kinda normal, trackspeed is a fully loaded track.
