Undecided about genII simmons ski's

If anyone could give me some opinions on what skis for an 06 apex, would be appreciated. Leaning towards the simmons but my buddys say they're too f'n huge!!! and that they're not the most attractive! What other option are there? I had gen I simmons on my cat and thought they were outstanding!! Do I have to go Gen II on the apex or will gen I be enough??...Thanks

On a Apex, it does not get better then Gen II simmons, they work awesome.

I got a 06 Apex last year and dropped a bunch of weight off the sled... I rode it with the stock skis for a while and then put the Gen II's on it and never looked back. One of the best years of riding for me that I've had in a long time. There were a few times in real heavy snow this spring that the skis were hard to turn... other then that I loved them.

Hated them at first, but once you can look past how fawking big and ugly they are, they are the ticket on the Apex fo sho.

ditto on the big skis. When boondocking around slow in the trees the stockers
would let the front end dive. THe monster skis keep the apex on an even keel. Also, on the downhill they offer super stability. Would never go back to stock. cr

I hated the way the front end would dive around on my TRX-1 in spring/heavy snow. These totally changed the sled all for the good. This is a no brainer. Just tell your buddies to not worry about the looks and have fun.

I love mine too.

No complaints.

I like them all the way around but probably in the end the greatest thing about them with a Turbo Yamaha is they DO NOT DART when you are going down the trail 100 mph.

At high speeds darting is deadly!

incredible

There the only way to go. I put em on my girlfriends 00' summit 700 as well and they make any sled so stable and awesome for deep powder. I had them on my rx-1 and my brother had powder pro's on his and i outclimbed him everywhere we went. the floatation is amazing!

The only problems are with the width of these bad boys. If you ride really tight trees, you might have to find another route. We have one route down the backside of a mountain that we barely fit through and now I have to find a different route. I also have to take them off to fit all the sleds into the trailer. That extra couple inches matters no matter what your wife says.LOL

My ski skins also don't fit the Gen II's.

But even with these minor problems, I still love them.

I think you should get the sled first and then see if your significant other will let you go sledding. I hear Gen II's ride deadly in the garage on the stand. Just be careful though, you might not be able to open both doors on your car because of the extra width the skis take up.:D Personally I'm waiting for Gen IV's, I hear they will be 16" wide.

No need to flame me Gen II fan club, he's a sledding buddy of mine and I'm just busting his balls. If it wasn't for me he'd be still telling himself the Cat can go another year.:face-icon-small-win

yeah my sled is around 48.25" wide with the stock a-arms i can imagine how you would make it through the tree's if you had longer a-arms! i have'nt been in an Area to tight where i had to take a different route due to the ski's.the ski's just guide you through the trees like bumpers as long as you dont hook one the wrong way....hasn't happened yet, but i could see a problem.

how about pulling them over for boondocking? is it harder? would naturally think it is more difficult with the bigger paddle...

pulls over hard if your not on the throttle but its better than before where i rolled my sled almost every time i went out from the powder pros. icy conditions aren't bad but they steer a little tough, they are worth it though just keep the stock skis when riding on pure ice other than that they seem to perform better for me everywhere else.
