Udall + Wilderness

I've had lengthy email discussion with Udall. Trust me, he doesn't give a rats *** about motorized recreation. Not saying don't do it but be prepared to not get a friendly response. More than likely it will be thanks for your opinion but we care a lot more about the enviro nazi lobby that puts us in office than we do you redneck hillbilly snowmachiners.

Udall does support this but the more controversy he has on this topic the harder it is for him to support. Especially with a big election year coming up for the country. It's harder for him to get his peers to support bills when they are fully aware of those opposing it. You have to send him a quick letter. Don't bash him or you will be ignored. Don't be afraid to send it to your county commissioner's, congressman, etc. Just put together one really good letter and continue to send it.

COHVCO and CSA have a meeting with his office on the new proposal but I still encourage everyone to voice their objections. Here is the comment page on Udall's page

http://www.markudall.senate.gov/?p=form&id=52

Couple of talking points might be the recent Forest Service report to Udall's office that Identified Wilderness areas as a significant contributor to the pine beetle outbreak and a significant limiting factor in the Forest Service response. Here is a link to that

http://www.fs.fed.us/rmrs/docs/home/bark-beetle.pdf

Colorado Forest Service has mapped the areas impacted hardest by beetle kill - this almost entirely overlaps the areas proposed to be Wilderness.

Forest Service's Office of rural development has also identified a multiple use trail system as a significant economic contributor to local economies.

http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/Reports/C...port-Feb10.pdf

There are more speaking points here

http://coloradotpa.org/news/news/let...ve-tipton.html

I have summaries of all these docs but just not sure how to post them in the new format.

The complete comments previously submitted regarding polis proposal are attached. Not enough coffee. these comments predated both the forest health report and I was not aware of the california rural development report so that is not addressed either.

Lots of good information in the attached comments

Read about this in the Post yesterday. They changed his district so he is now in my district.

You need to not only contact Udall, contact your other representatives. He can propose anything he wants, his mind is made up, nothing will change that. Start going after other representatives that have not made up their mind.

I'm not gonna beat a dead horse but it is beyond me how someone can say they are a supporter of snowmobiling and for that matter motorized recreation and then turn around and vote to put people into power who's stated goal is to shut down and/or severely limit that access. How this person is now a moderator on this site is even more ridiculous. We are being destroyed from the inside out.

Im not positive but i can guess who your talking about. We ARE being destroyed from the inside out because ANYBODY, a granola, can join this site and see everything we are talking about and then work their way to end it. We need to stop talking about our riding spots unless its between known riders in a private message or phone call. Posting videos and pictures of our spots is all good as long as we don't name the area. This wilderness and hidden gems will CONTINUE to take over areas if we don't all come together, voice our opinion, join a club and fight to save them. Summit County is already losing a couple major, large areas to the travel management plan this summer, we don't need to lose ANYTHING else..... Call your reps, call the forest circus and tell them how you can help to keep these areas open.
