A few sledders helped out in '09 to arrange on-site medical, permits, emergency evac, and trail signage. Last year riders were generally pretty good about staying on the trails to get to the cabin and about parking at respectful distances near the event hills. Forestry was pleased to hear this. Thanks to all that supported our efforts!
Our group is not taking part this year, so I'm not sure about the extent of flagging and other arrangements, but I really hope riders can make an extra big attempt to keep out of the log blocks whether or not there is extra ribbons & stakes as reminders. Even if there are already tracks,
eyes straight ahead and ride by!
This small effort will payoff for everyone in the long run.
Not sure if everyone has been keeping up with the Avalanche Bulletins recently, but there are a few pretty active frost layers in the top meter or so. Avalanches are starting to gain in size and speed lately and have been releasing on pretty low angle slopes as well.
While even tracked up slopes have been releasing, be especially cautious on hills that have seen little sled action in the past month. Frost is a pretty crazy crystal that can cause problems for a long time.
This is the forecast as of Mar 11.
