two BDX oil injection delete questions?

I am getting ready to do the BDX oil injection delete kit and was wondering if I need to add more fuel or just leave it alone? I have it dialed in and don't really want to mess with it. What have you guys that have this installed done?

Also, I know guys are putting a grease fitting in the hole on the bottom of the engine, but what about drilling and tapping a hole right into the end of the machined BDX part that goes where the oil pump went and putting a 90 degree grease fitting on it? Wouldn't that force grease through their brass oilite bushing and keep the water pump shaft lubed? Thanks!

I have been told by a couple reputable shops to run a 30-1 mixture in the M1000s after doing the oil delete and that they don't recommend the delete on brand new motors. They also say that it doesn't hurt to put light grease in the water pump cavity but they have had no problem just doing the delete.

I would add fuel, one easy way to do it is increase your fuel pressure a little, that way your map doesn't change and you get the right amount of fuel. I never put any grease fittings in mine, no problems over 500 miles, but I give it plenty of fuel.

What ratio you mixing at?

I would go to the twised turbo web site and see how they have updated the case. I had a problem with the kit and siezed the water pump bushing. Ruined the crank. I have heard of only one other time of this happening and heard of 1000s people useing this kit. I was runing 32 to1 at the time. I do not want to turn this into a bdx bashing thread I have used alot of there products and always been happy. I just want you to be aware that there could be a problem. thank you Scalded

Thanks for your input, but I'm not worried about doing it at all. I'm not going to tear-down to drill holes in the case. I'd rather take my 1000:1 chance.

Well, I did the delete this afternoon. Only pulled the pipe and skidplate. Did almost everything from down below with the sled laying on it's side. Just drained and cut the oil tank in half with an auto body air sheetmetal saw. Took about 20 minutes to get the tank out. Also installed the torque push-arm below where the tank goes. Right now mixing at 36:1 and will see how it goes. Might go 40:1. I did put a 6mm zerk in the bottom where the banjo went. I looked up in the hole with a flashlight and it doesn't look very promising squirting grease up in there, but we'll see. I'm just gonna run it this year and look at this summer.

4 rides on mine so far. around 160 miles with the delete, runs much better without the sticking oil pump.

IT IS 100% NEEDED TO ADD THE GREASE FITTING AND GREASE IT VERY OFTEN! THE WATER PUMP SHAFT NEEDS TO BE GREASED OFTEN!

Seriously guys if you have ever had your M8 motor apart it will make perfect sense to why you need to grease it. It is debatable to use a kit similar to this on stock or close to stock applications because there is not a whole lot of benefit unless you are running a mod sled. Adding grease to the case is debatable as well.

Do you need to add more fuel? If it was a carb model I would say yes, but I think the EFI will compensate. When the fuel is pre mixed there is less fuel per gallon going through the engine. It is actually running lein, but it really shouldnt make a difference it is minimal.

got a few hundred on my stocker with no grease.installed it like bdx said to.we will see.LOL.it does seem a smig leaner sometimes at idle

First ride on my delete yesterday and I did have to increase fuel across all RPM's. But, I was running on the edge before elimination (head/port/pipe/intake/BDbox).

I opted to put the bolt in .. intending to squeeze some assembly lube up the hole a few times a season. The zerk I put in would leak injection oil, so I was afraid any oil that did seep into the cavity might leak out. Maybe I had a cheap zerk ...

Talked to the instructor from our tech college today. He is a certified Cat Master Mechanic and has been on the inside of alot of Cat operations/training at the factory. That shaft needs to be greased. They tried it on some race sleds and as stated above they have two holes drilled to lube the shaft. It needs it. I told him about BDX Claims of 6000 miles or something crazy with out having a grease fitting. He cant believe how it would work.
