Twisted Turbo pro Rmk

Product Tester: rode today with just grade 8 bolt in the 1 that broke held up all day

Shain, I've not seen a grade 8 in metric. Metric usually comes in classes like 8.8, 10.9, 12.9 etc.

Can you tell our readers where to get their hands on the bolt that you replaced?

Thanks in advance.

They are an 8.8 bolt I believe, I had to grind down the head on them to get them to fit in the holes. The silicone we filled all the mounts up with really helped to stiffen them up, plus Shain came up with a new mount we are testing. It should solve all our problems.

Got the bolt at the nut and bolt suppy company,
there is also a company that makes bolt around here I was thinking of haveing some made with a longer shoulder like you suggested.
But I thinks the problem lies in the up and down force that is shearing the bolt, so I think the problem need some kind of tourqe stop on the bottom of the motor.

Owning one of these sleds is all I can think about. I had grown board with the m series. Not that it is a bad sled just that it hasnt changed and I have been riding it for 6 years. this sled is what I have been looking for in next level riding for me. I am still amazed at how well our turbo has been working on this sled with a total 4 days on the snow. it out performs the cat in every way. its funner to drive it drives smoother and responds cleaner than 80% of the turbos on the market. the coolest thing is that it drives and runs better the harder you drive it. you will get tired long before this turbo does.

Just curious how the pro compares to the other brand turbo sleds out there at equal boost? if you can get the boost up higher will it run with the yammy's as well?

Does really good silicone make any sence? as the rubber on these mounts have alot of room (air space in them) I have filled them with silicone and got grade 8 bolts. The mounts feel alot more stable filled with silicone. also going to look at some way of doing some extra mounts.

Or how about bubble gum instead of silicone? Really good bubble gum.

On metric bolts, we had one of our tracked Hagglund vehicles (big thing with 5.9 Cummins and midsection steering) literally come apart. The front part started to "walk away" from the rear. 24 bolts had finally given up since we abuse them a lot.

My point; they use metric 10.9 bolts that was hard to find so we thought of going to "the next level", 12.9

Manufacturer of vehicle says no good, will break sooner. MH nailed it, what is stronger?? The 12.9 is harder and might have even higher tensile strength, but would not be "flexible" enough in this aplication!!

So from this my thought would be 10.9 bolts over 8.8, but not 12.9.

If you really wanted to firm it up AND bond like no other... use a high quality urethane like 3M 5200 fast cure.

My 2 cents..

"The Right Stuff" is more of a sealant and gasket maker and does not have a lot of durability or adhesive properties to it.

Keep an eye on it for the silicone breaking down.

Keep up the good work.

I have a feeling that these motor mount/plate combos from FTX/Power-Addiction will be popular among the boosted crowd!!
