Twisted my front end. What do I do.

I twisted the front end of my sled today. the left ski is about 4" further back than the right one. What 's bent? What is going to cost? I'm having a panic attack. A arms and shock look fine. The door doesn't close properly and the plate at the back of the a arms when you flip the sled over is tweeked out a bit. The rivets that you can see behind the shock popped out. Does anyone have instructions on rebuilding the front of the xp?

Has this ever been fixed under warranty?

Thanks
Chad

Some pics would be nice, but it's called the S Module and why would crash damage ever be covered under warranty? It sucks and will be moderately expensive, but at least you're OK.

Except for the Panic Attack! :face-icon-small-win

The same thing happened to me last year! Sucks! I was without the sled for a month and had to completely tear down the whole front end.... sorry to break it to ya,

Got a backup sled?

if you are asking these types of questions, you are in way over your head. If you don't have a buddy who is an experienced mechanic, take it to the dealer. This is not a repair for novices.

This is going to be expensive.

I took a better look at it tonight. It's not good. I'll post some pics later. I'm only going to learn if ask questions. If they are so easy...just answer them for the next guy that runs into the same problem.

1. hit a rock on the left/front side of the spindle on the left ski. Didn't feel that hard but alot of damage is done. left ski is about 4-5" back from the right one.
2. Rivets are popped out around the left and right a-arms in places. Spring was right against the back on the left a-arm and in the center on the right a-arm
3. motor looks twisted back on the clutch side. (can this be because of the twisted s-module or is something else bent that I can't see?)
4. shocks and a-arms appear to be fine.
5. bracket mounting to the chaincase. broke away from the chaincase.
6. bottom suspension support is broken.
7. the holes for the rivets don't look that far off. Could the frame be bent?
8. door doesn't fit properly.

I'll post more later.

Dosen't sound good but if it is just your module and 09 one can be bought. I did this just at the start of the season. Not only was the cost cheaper but it only took me about 2 hrs start to finish. Really sounds like the front part of the tunnel is bent though.

Has anyone ever thought of drilling the a-arms? I think when you hit something with the a-arms they're to strong and they fu^k up everything else behind it!
So if you were to hit something, it would only take out the upper or lower arm and save alot of time, money, and grief.
Anyone try it?

Sounds like a great idea, I think you should do some r&d and find out exactly where and how big the holes should be to achieve your break away design without weakening the arms too much. The problem is going to be that there is no magical fix that will work for all impacts and still be strong enough to withstand the pounding these items take during the endless whoops, creek crossings, and other impacts that constantly jolt the front suspensions. the easy fix is to go back to the trailing arm sleds that had an inherent weak link like you speak of. The current A arm design would be tough to achieve that kind of design.

If there's as much damage as you are saying I think you hit harder than you think. Also I agree that much damage will probably be a dealer fix. Brand New sled? Do you have any insurance on it?
