Twisted 3071

15 lbs makes it fun, for sure. Just got back from a small clutching session. I have to say the throttle response is pretty wicked.

Stock head with the spark plug boss machined out, .065 squish.

Stabbing the throttle from idle is approx the same. Boost builds very early. Climbing, the on/off response is basically instant. Very crisp sounding with a top end that you can't believe. I was running 14lbs @ 4-5k feet in 2-3 feet of fresh. Unbelievable. I had a return line restriction that was causing fuel pressure to build high at low throttle settings for the end of last year and the first several rides this year. Fixed that and was readjusting the box back for normal fuel pressure this weekend. I fought it in the low and mid till I added more mid-fuel and then got the wot fuel fine tuned.

It feels like 3 more lbs of boost with this turbo if that helps.

Straight 110 Sunoco. I have 1 barrel left and will probably go back to straight 100LL at 13-14 lbs. It's seemed like plenty enough power. (Did I just say that?). Can't beat the value of 100LL.

I had a 2871 with a .70 ar comp. and a .86 tial ex. I am changing some other things. So it won't be a good comparison between the two. After I get it dialed in I am going to try and ride with a guy with a gt. So we can swap for a day and see if there is a noticeable difference.

What did you think your 2871 was like compared to the other guys standard 3071? I am assuming .63 exhaust on the 3071?

Just an update. I have been fighting this sled a bit with driveability issues since installing this turbo. Wot and in/out on a hill has been fine, but I have been having this lean/dead spot while starting to transition to boost with smooth throttle movements. I ended up having to give it a lot more fuel in my green and yellow zones. I initially was trying to only do it with the yellow, but I later realized that the dead spot was just a hair before it switched to yellow. More air needs more fuel-duh!!!!

Box numbers with the 2860

1.5 yellow
