Turnagain Avalanche....3 Fatalities

yea,,,have several close friends who said they were in the bottom and the exhaust noise cut it loose..

Fact--exhaust noise will NOT break loose a avy. More likley just snow load AND THEY HAPPENED TO BE THERE WHEN IT HAPPENED:face-icon-small-sad

Sorry to hear of this--it is a loss for us all when our brethern fall:brokenheart:

I know in Washington and this warm up we are having--everyone feels that it is getting safer--but far from--it is getting more dangerous than ever. The bad layer that is causing our avy issues is down towards the base of the snow pack--The heavy snowload is just increasing the danger. We have had a couple big avys that have been in unusual places for avys and have even taken out older growth BIG trees.

Be careful out there folks!

RIP

H20SKE...

Tragic loss, and hits home here in MN indirectly.
A buddy of mine sent me this email, relating to this slide.

Quote from my bud: " ....Jeremy Stark was my cousin's son.
He left a fiancee with twins on the way, was a business owner and all
around good guy who lived to snowmobile (snowmachine in AK lingo).
Who says life is fair..."

I sure hope They got a Gps Fix on there beacons. cause i was out at turney today and it was snowing really hard and i herd a Huge avy come down not far from me. and i was messing down in the trees next to the road. Guys dont go up top unless you have a total deathwish. it was a Easy. 5 feet of powder in the trees. I hope that there Bodys Got bless them. dont get covered by a avy again. If anyone wants to go out and do a search with probes im down. i just dont think there beacons are transmitting nemore?

I think we all should Look Into a ABS pack and get a avy saftey course done.

They do know where there exactly bodies are at but, cannot get them outta there because, of the snow conditions.

WOW.....hard to swallow. That was a great write-up on them!!!! What some of the people were blogging after the article make me SICK!!!

My heart goes out to the families.

very sad, I wish the best for those whom they left behind. A tragic loss..

Thanks Roger for adding us your close to home reminder for us here. We are all to far away from these things. and sometimes it takes a trajic reminder. I have PM's Big Darrin to make the 'more turns thread' sticky so everyone can see that video whom hasn't. It brings it all closer to home...

My thoughts and prayers to everyone and there families involved in this loss.

:( That's unreal. This is the first time I've really "known" (known of) an avy victim, it really makes it hit home harder. Christoph was probably my favorite guy to watch in THC/Slednecks etc. RIP boys, you'll be missed!
