turbo

ok i want a turbo on a m8 and i look at these turbo kits, have read all about them. how hard is it to build your own reliable pump gas? and would anyone recommend a hybrid over a garrett for the price diff? and whats the biggest downer on doing it yourself? i just dont want to pay 3-5 grand!

know one wants to pay 3-5k but i really dont think you can do it much cheaper than a pg kit from someone like push for 2995.00 by the time you get the turbo, air box, fuel pressure reg [rise rate],fuel pump, gauges just look around for a used kit

In most cases its not worth it. By the time you piece parts together you will have 2500$ into it pretty easy. Then you have no or very little help...

Reality is, you will not end up saving yourself any money...Fact is, kits are all different, how you set up a standard off the shelf kit made for your sled still has lots of variables...and needs to be tuned to you, and your locale...

So, if your ok with tweaking and tuning and trouble shooting all the variables (which can be as simple as clutching, to coolant flow, to oil supply lines, to Cam timing, and head shims etc. etc. then rock and roll go for it...

However, for over 99% of people it is not reasonable to do this...Why? Even standard proven kits (think MCX, MPI, etc.) there are no less than a dozen things that are custom for every sled/rider combination...

Each day I ride is sooo limited, 20+/- rides a year...that the actual cost difference between buying a proven kit with support, is worth every penny versus ruining a day or trip of riding...It is just not worth it...

Honestly, I don't see you doing any better than the Push 2995 kit, and that sounds like it's a ripper, and Kevin (MMSPORTS on here) is a great guy to buy from & will always be there, (or on here) to answer questions & help you out.

If you can build one RELIABLY for $2995... man, start selling them!!!

I bought a Cutler & really like it, thought it was worth the extra $1425 over the push, but I already had one, so wanted to have two of the same kit for simplicity sake.

as someone who has built a kit, unless you like playing with your own stuff and enjoy learning a lot.. buy one.

parts arent free. and theres always waste and extras and stuff like endless hours of your time and driving around getting stuff. it adds up insanely fast.
