SkiDoo 1200 Turbo PowderLites

Stock pistons work fine in Seadoo at 255 HP all day long.
Same as any thing modified how good is builder and design of a boost kit.
Tell the truth? A lot of guys have blown up Nytro motors and had the head off many times. Why? Sled Revy cast pistons.
Same problems just different sled motor.
Problem List: only my opinion so take it or leave it!
We don't hide to much at PowderLites and help out anyone even if another manufacture's kit.
1=Compression too high.
2=Cam timing wrong.
3= Not proper turbo size.
4=Header/Manifold design.
5=Divorced Double down pipe no proper turbo outlet to lower header pressure.
6=Intercooler design and cooling of charge air.
7=injectors sizing.
8=EFI control system with a map not just a fuel curve thrown over top stock ECU maps.
9=Ignition timing control with stand alone or RB3
10=Denonation is always been the biggest killer of any engine when squeezing as much as possible out of a engine. Run Meth and lower the compression ratio. You can always make more power from lower compression motor with better efficency. We were just testing SkiDoo 1200 Rapid Bike EFI with timing control and not trying to get big HP numbers. Dave Micku said it well while we were riding and racing the Doo agianst other sleds. ( Don't need a Dyno to tell me it makes power cause it just smokes up the chutes at low boost.)
I know because we swap sleds and race against each other for a few days.
19 psi on my Nytro is fast enough to win fastest sled at Fernie snow drags.
The Doo is right there beside me or ahead of me every run at only 14 to 15 psi in uphill foot of powder snow long runs.
Guys this is a threating sled and watchout should be fun next season.
Boost doesn't make HP. Efficency makes reilable HP and troque.
Chaincase and gears don't stand up to snapping the throttle on and off like on a 2 stroke Vmax4 750cc that revs to 9500 RPM with 180 degree motors which means when I built them with 2 pistons firing at once it rip drive shafts, jackshafts and chains out with ease.
Built a turbo vmax4 and it is still runing around today 14 years later with same motor and chaincase & parts.
Smooth power and adjusting chain will be key in long term riding.
We got 2 nytro's in shop in one week all blown chain cases!. The truth!

Well guys we beat it on dyno today for a few hours.
Pistons are stock and has head spacer.
Rapid bike 3 with first time on Dyno with Ignition timing advanced in bottom end and retarded with boost.
Pistons are also very strong as in there Seadoo uses cast pistons and supercharged at 255 HP all day long!
Rods are a crack rod and bolts etc from what I see are very strong.
Remember it only needs to run at 7800 RPM to make over 300 HP with 210 ft lbs of torque.
Turbo love low RPM and Torque style motors like a diesel.
Here is a run on Dyno we made today so we know exactly how this motor runs. More tuning and playing with timing etc will just make more HP and torque.

funny how last year you said nytro made 287.4hp at 14 lbs on your stage 1 kit when you dynoed it now your saying ski-doo makes 300+ @ 15 lbs. Isn't that pretty much in the same league. seems funny that now your nytro has to run 18 lbs to keep up. you showed us the nytro dyno last year, seems funny to me. say anything to make a sale or what
 
Running 22lbs on my RXP(1500cc)motor sled with the stock pistons. Haven't had any problems.

Powderlites, why not set up you 1200 with Motec? That would make life much simpler. Sure it's not cheap but on a 25k sled what is?

Rapid Bike 3 is working very well and easy to tune with Tuning Bike out in the real world riding.
How much HP that 1500 make? A little more info if you don't mind sharing Astro?

FX Nytro is stage 2 and yes at 14 psi it pulled 287.4 HP on Dyno with about 170 ft lbs torque.
Skidoo 1200 is 305 HP but 210 ft lbs torque!
Torque is what wins drag races and I am just showing info of SkiDoo 1200 and how it is a smooth torque monster.
HP will have more top speed.
Dexter now you might understand why SkiDoo is so fast for low boost or HP when drag racing.

HP= how fast you hit the wall...

Torque= how far you go into it.:D
 
I rode the Powderlites 1200 turbo @ Yami fest and ride with a lot of my friends that have nitro turbos. The first thing I notices was how much smoother the power was compared to the nitro.

At Xtreme Powersports, we are running a 1200 w/ MCX kit on it. Ran all day up at Castlegar while filming in the Valley of Chutes w/ Krazy Canadian. Had it set at 16lbs boost on 50/50 fuel. Didn't feel like crashin' the sled and having to buy it, so I took it pretty easy on her. (My wife wouldn't be impressed if I brought home a $20,000 turbo "pre-wrecked"). This Doo motor on boost is Torquey! Wants to pull out of you hands at 6500 rpms.

If you look back at torque numbers on dyno graph you will see at 6000 RPM before we could get it opened up by cause hard to control on dyno.
Well over 200 HP at 6000 RPM.

Over 200 ponies at 6000 rpm...Holy sh@t!!! That is rediculous!! Is clutching that thing a bit of a challenge?? It seems that you would have your hands full keeping the belt hooked up with it coming on so strong??
