Turbo reeds?

From my past experience, I have come to notice the stock reed tips are flush at best or even hang over the reed block end just a little. IMO that makes the tips more susceptible to damage. Either from crank case contact or varying/extreme forces being applied from intake and internal pressures/forces. I can visualize the reed tips being damage over time if they protrude past the reed block housing which they seat against. Constant open and closing motion is amplified significantly more when boost is put into the equation. Reed tips would become easily fatigued and damages do to no support being applied across the entire tip of those reed pedals. One again this is just my observation and I'm only human which means "Yes I Could Be Wrong".

The newest version of V-Force 3 reeds are cut back on tip length for top and bottom pedals now so they will not be so susceptible to tip damage. This would also go along with my theory of reed pedal tip support.

Thanks I well check my tips out for over hang and trim 1/4" back. Any suggestions on how to cut them?
Figure is a good time to check the reeds out. I have the motor apart putting a fix it kit in new rod kit and trueing the crank. Let the season begin
Amazing how there is always something new to learn.

Boyesen has an OEM replacement style turbo reed, they are slightly thicker than the stock ones for better lifespan. Don't remember specs off the top of my head. Replaced mine last year with these and have had good luck, didn't notice any loss in responsiveness either.

Last I checked they didn't have these reeds listed on their (Boyesen's) website. Just give them a call and tell them this is what you're looking for.

I've replaced a few sets with spi reeds. The thing I've been doing different is cutting the old reed petal about 1/2 way back on the top reeds and stacking it on top of the new spi reed. I've got a couple guys set up this way and haven't had any more failures to date. I don't know for sure if anyone has over 500 miles on them yet. Time will tell how effective this will be.

we have sold a lot and I mean a lot of our Boyseen tp cut reeds. With no problems.

I have a 2011 with the same reeds in since day one. Just checked them a month ago and starting to look ratty but going to run them and see how long they last. Testing, R&D lol
